Shin Jeong-hwan's revelation of 'celebrity sexual services' is causing aftershocks.
On the 23rd, an internet user known as A submitted a report to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, urging a thorough investigation by applying allegations of violating the Act on the Punishment of Acts Including the Solicitation of Prostitution against 'celebrity sexual services.' This complaint is currently under review by the Women's Safety Division.
Previously, on the 21st, Shin Jeong-hwan raised the topic of female celebrities receiving sexual services in a video titled 'Epic Roundtable Discussion (feat. power, celebrity, sexual services)' posted on the YouTube channel 'Channel Gojeonghae.'
Shin Jeong-hwan discussed the entertainment industry and power, saying, 'You don't ask someone to date from the start. Contrary to appearances, celebrities are quite vulnerable. If an agency head who nurtured you asks for some time on specific days, wouldn't you be willing to have a meal?'
He continued, 'In the past, seniors used to go blindfolded to places where drinking was involved.' He added, 'I have heard my acquaintances discussing it. Names of junior celebrities came up. The seniors talked without being aware that I was next to them and mentioned the amounts.'
Then he said, 'A name came up, and it seemed like three people knew about it simultaneously.' He remarked, 'It never got caught. There was once a rumor where money changed hands.' In response, Kang Byeong-kyu noted, 'There was once an instance where the amount was mentioned in a rumor,' which drew attention.
In particular, Shin Jeong-hwan and Kang Byeong-kyu mentioned that a Chinese businessman had offered 2 billion won to solicit a female celebrity.
In light of this, A argued that the reported contents could fall under prostitution, which is explicitly prohibited by Article 4(1) of the Act on the Punishment of Acts Including the Solicitation of Prostitution, asserting, 'This incident should not be dismissed as mere gossip within the entertainment industry; a thorough investigation at a public-interest level must take place.'
With the report from A received, it has drawn attention to the possibility that Shin Jeong-hwan, as the person involved, may be subjected to police investigations, including being summoned as a witness.
