Broadcaster Hyun-young expressed her grievances over allegations that she resold luxury brand gifts, while the vendor company that consolidated the product stepped forward to clarify the matter.
On the afternoon of the 22nd, A, the representative of the overseas direct purchase company that collaborated with Hyun-young, explained in a phone interview with OSEN, "Ms. Hyun-young is not the seller of the product; she is a person who facilitated purchasing on behalf of others," and noted, "We specialize in purchasing assistance, and Ms. Hyun-young played the role of consolidating consumers and products, receiving only a facilitation fee for her services."
A stated about the product in question, "The 'Dior Spring Kit' introduced this time is a new product for 2025 that has not yet officially launched in Korea," adding, "It was provided through a reputable Singaporean genuine product distributor, and buyers are required to enter their individual customs numbers to import directly." He emphasized, "Ms. Hyun-young did not sell directly or distribute gifts illegally; it was a legitimate purchasing assistance through proper distribution procedures."
Hyun-young also expressed her grievances in a phone call with OSEN on the same day. She stated, "The product in question has entered through official customs," explaining, "It is distributed through an intermediary vendor, and our site allows customers to input their individual customs numbers for purchase. We did not simply resell gifts, but rather introduced products that were distributed through formal channels."
The background of this controversy lies in a video Hyun-young posted on her SNS last month. Previously, Hyun-young stated on her personal SNS, "The Dior 2025 Spring Ritual Kit is offered with a pouch when purchased at Korean department stores for over 170,000 won and is currently a sold-out item," adding, "I can sell it for 85,000 won. There is a QR code, and it is a genuine Dior product."
Additionally, she explained, "This product includes four miniature items, and the total value is equivalent to gifts provided for customers who purchase worth 650,000 won," which raised suspicions among some netizens about whether selling gifts with a premium attached was illegal.
In response, Hyun-young's side clarified, "This is not a simple case of 'selling gifts'; it is a structured import distribution process undertaken through official procedures," emphasizing once again that the structure involves receiving facilitation fees, not sales proceeds.
