Actors Park Yoon-jae and Lee Ga-ryeong have hinted at a bold transformation in their performances through the upcoming drama "The Queen's House."
Scheduled to premiere on the 28th at 7:50 p.m. on KBS2, the new daily drama "The Queen's House" (written by Kim Min-joo, directed by Hong Seok-goo and Hong Eun-mi, produced by Flying Entertainment and Ascendio) is a revenge drama about a woman whose perfect life is completely taken away and who fights to reclaim her life.
Park Yoon-jae plays the role of Hwang Ki-chan, a director in the strategic planning team at YL Group and the husband of Kang Jae-in (Ham Eun-jung). Lee Ga-ryeong portrays the character Kang Se-ri, who is driven by her twisted desires towards her friend Jae-in, leading towards a tragic end. With bold developments expected, the drama is drawing attention from fans, and six days ahead of its premiere, the two actors introduced the appealing points of the work on the 22nd.
First, Park Yoon-jae discussed his reason for participating, saying, "Of course, it was because of the script. I felt as if I had to act quickly due to the fast pace and the intricate backgrounds of the characters, especially the character of Hwang Ki-chan, which really attracted me."
Park Yoon-jae, who declared a "war on weight" for the role, shared, "I had to act in a bed scene for the first time in my acting life, so I lost weight quickly. I also pondered a lot on how to portray an antagonist in a non-typical way." He added, "In particular, Ki-chan is a character with a strong attachment to family, which was impressive, and I thought focusing on that emotion would add to the persuasiveness of my performance."
Lee Ga-ryeong stated, "'The Queen's House' is a very interesting work in terms of the relationships between characters." This is her first time playing a villain in a lead role, and she explained, "Kang Se-ri is a character that would go to any lengths for her desires, but she has a charm that makes it sound true and captivating in those moments." She added, "I fully transformed into Se-ri and was prepared to face criticism from viewers," revealing her strong enthusiasm.
Additionally, the two revealed points to better enjoy the drama. Park Yoon-jae noted, "'The Queen's House' is not a drama that strictly leans towards good or evil. I hope viewers will carefully observe the intricate tension that comes from switching between the two." Lee Ga-ryeong added, "Seeing how people crumble amidst Se-ri's schemes and accusations, and how that leads to Se-ri's fate, will give viewers a sense of anger and catharsis that makes it enjoyable to watch."
Finally, Park Yoon-jae and Lee Ga-ryeong said, "Soon, 'The Queen's House' will greet the viewers. We will do our best with nervous hearts to capture your weekday evenings, so please tune in and take an interest."
Meanwhile, KBS2's new daily drama "The Queen's House" will premiere on the 28th at 7:50 p.m., following "Cinderella Game."
