Actor Choi Jong-nam is heading to Cannes.
Choi Jong-nam's work 'Children's Songs Horror Story' has been officially invited to the non-competition institutional sector of the 2025 Cannes International Series Festival and will depart through Incheon International Airport on the 26th.
The film 'Children's Songs Horror Story' (produced by Cotap Media) is a work that reinterpret familiar children's songs, mixing reality and imagination based on the hidden stories within the songs. It reinterprets the eerie and bizarre mystery soaked in the lyrical melody of children's songs into a modern and sensuous tale.
Based on bizarre storytelling and direction, it is an eagerly anticipated work that opens a new chapter of K-horror, promising audiences a new dimension of terror and catharsis, with actors Hong Soo-hyun and Nam Gyu-ri delivering remarkable performances as the protagonists in the episodes of 'It's the Same' (director Kim Gun) and 'My Happy Home' (director Lim Kyung-taek).
Choi Jong-nam appears as a middle-aged man with a strange impression, seemingly suffering from oppression in 'My Happy Home.' His unique expression, characterized by dark circles, creates a peculiar atmosphere, and he focused on delivering an immersive performance, repeating a scene of being slapped by his daughter over 20 times.
He debuted as a late-blooming actor after being cast in the 2001 film 'Dreams,' and has completed a unique filmography through participation in dozens of works, including the latest film 'Ghost Police,' dramas, and plays.
Ahead of attending the Cannes International Series Festival, Choi Jong-nam noted, "It is a great honor to be invited to a prestigious international film festival after 25 years of being an actor," and expressed hope that 'Children's Songs Horror Story' would be recognized for its artistic merit in K-horror within the global market where K-culture is making significant waves.
Choi Jong-nam will start his official schedule on April 28 with an interview and photo call at the Cannes Majestic Hotel, along with actors Hong Soo-hyun and Nam Gyu-ri. He will then walk the pink carpet at the Palais des Festivals at 6:30 p.m. local time.
On the 29th at 2 p.m., he will attend the official screening of 'Children's Songs Horror Story' at the Palais des Festivals and hold a stage greeting and interview.
