(Interview ③ follows) Teen Top's Niel expressed his desire to appear in entertainment shows.
Recently, an interview was conducted with Niel, who returned with his fourth solo mini album 'SHE,' at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul.
On this day, when asked if there is a part of him that wants to take on new challenges, he said, "Actually, it seems like there are almost no activities that I haven't done. Looking back at the past, I've lived diligently," and added, "I have really tried a lot, so there are no activities I haven't done, but if I were to do it again, I would like to try entertainment shows. I also have many entertainment shows that I enjoyed filming. I want to try again because I looked happy when I did entertainment shows."
He then mentioned the entertainment shows he would like to appear in, saying, "I am quite introverted. So when I'm focused, I actually have a hard time speaking. Therefore, I would like to do more variety and reality shows rather than talk shows. I like shows like 'New Journey to the West' and 'BbangBbang Earth Arcade,' and I would also like to try out programs like 'Escape the Room.'"
In response, Niel jokingly asked, "Do you want to work with a great person in the PD realm?" and smiled as he replied, "I want to try it once."
Niel also expressed his thoughts on observation-style entertainment programs like 'I Live Alone,' saying, "I thought it would be fun to show living alone. I lie down with my cat at home, so I wonder if it would be interesting to broadcast it," and added, "I feel like doing entertaining shows where I can use my body would be effective, even though it's not really my will."
When asked about participating in 'Running Man,' which features Yoo Jae-seok, who chose Teen Top as his 'favorite group,' he said, "I had fun filming 'Running Man.' I still watch it. It's one of my favorite programs."
In particular, many idols are recently producing 'self-content' through YouTube, sharing various aspects with fans beyond TV entertainment. Regarding the possibility of producing such self-content, Niel said, "I wanted to do it," but he also mentioned, "I feel like today's trend is to show my original self without pretense. However, since I debuted a long time ago, I unconsciously switch to broadcast mode as soon as I'm in front of the camera," expressing his struggles.
He candidly shared, "My friend MC Gree (Kim Dong-hyun) often scolded me, saying, 'Why can you talk comfortably when I'm around, but act like an idol when the camera's on, like it's a broadcast? Just relax like me.' I received that advice, but it's hard to do. I'm still scared to start self-content."
Meanwhile, Niel's fourth solo mini album 'SHE' will be released on the 22nd at 6 p.m.
