The '24-Hour Health Club' offers empathy and comfort to viewers through a growth journey about the body.
Set to premiere on the 30th, KBS 2TV's new Wednesday-Thursday drama '24-Hour Health Club' (directed by Park Jun-soo and Choi Yeon-soo, written by Kim Ji-soo) unfolds a heart-thumping comedic romance where a tenacious fitness addict, manager Do Hyun-joong, dramatically corrects the overly anxious lives of health enthusiasts.
Today (21st), the seven cast members, including actor Lee Jun-young, Jeong Eun-ji, Lee Mi-do, Lee Seung-woo, Park Seong-yeon, Lee Ji-hye, and Hong Yoon-hwa, revealed the highlights of the drama ahead of its first broadcast.
Lee Jun-young, who plays the manager Do Hyun-joong, a fitness addict suddenly in charge of an old health club, said, "I hope viewers pay close attention to the parts where Hyun-joong grows, as he is clumsy in everything but exercise," pointing out aspects that would make the show even more enjoyable. He also defined this work as 'rough but cute,' and noted, "There were many moments during filming when I thought, 'Oh, that's somewhat cute,'" raising expectations for the upcoming broadcast with a unique acting transformation.
Meanwhile, Jeong Eun-ji attracted attention for gaining and losing weight simultaneously to portray the character Lee Mi-ran, a health enthusiast entering the gym after a shocking breakup with her boyfriend. She stated, "I hope viewers enjoy it as it is. It's not a complicated or deep-thinking drama, so you can watch it with a relaxed mind. Especially for those who are sincere about exercising, there will be plenty of scenes where you can relate and laugh, so I ask for your anticipation," noting her highlights.
Jeong Eun-ji described '24-Hour Health Club' as 'always open,' saying, "Literally, it's a drama where you can comfortably come and enjoy anytime. I think of it as a space where you can laugh, empathize, and sometimes receive warm comfort. I hope everyone can come and enjoy it just like a health club that's open 24 hours a day."
Lee Mi-do and Lee Seung-woo, who will play fantastic supporting roles in the health club, also shared their highlights. Lee Mi-do, who will portray Rosa, the long-standing figure at the gym, remarked, "All the characters appearing reflect us living in the current era. While watching the production, anyone will be able to find a character resembling themselves," adding that "'24-Hour Health Club' is about 'strength.' It's truly an energetic work that makes you want to voluntarily and actively enhance the strength of both body and mind. I hope everyone watches this and finds strength."
Lee Seung-woo, who plays the cheerful mascot Alex, said, "Pay attention to how characters with their own stories gather at the gym, how they start exercising, and how they heal their wounds while exercising, as well as the realistic episodes that arise from that process." He added, "'24-Hour Health Club' is a 'routine' you need to watch every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 p.m. I hope you keep up with this happy routine, as if you are exercising every day, and end your day well."
Finally, the gym members known as the 'witch trio' — Park Seong-yeon, Lee Ji-hye, and Hong Yoon-hwa — each defined '24-Hour Health Club' as 'good fun,' 'healthy,' and 'very best content drama.' Park Seong-yeon, who mentioned the drama due to the reason that you can gain both muscle and heart, asked to pay attention to 'the great chemistry created by distinctive characters.' Lee Ji-hye explained, "There are central characters in each episode, and their problem-solving methods are quite creative and healthy. Please watch how they tackle challenges and learn to love themselves," while Hong Yoon-hwa urged viewers, "The transformation of the actors will also be a big fun element, so please make sure to watch it live."
