Singer Chuu expressed her deep feelings.
Chuu held a listening session for her third mini album 'Only Cry in the Rain' on the 21st at MovieLand in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
Chuu's comeback comes about 10 months after the release of her second mini album 'Strawberry Rush' in June of last year. During that time, Chuu consistently connected with music fans through her participation in several sound sources such as 'Second Love,' 'IN MY DREAM,' 'nrv,' and 'Why Am I Such a Fool?'
'Only Cry in the Rain' depicts a journey of moving forward while facing the invisible concepts of 'memory' and 'emotion.' It reflects on forgotten feelings and sings about how they have shaped the current self, capturing Chuu's lyrical inner self and the growth of her musical world.
The title track of the same name delivers comfort and courage to the youth of this era, who live by hiding their emotions, suggesting that 'it's okay to be honest with your feelings, at least on rainy days.' Chuu's characteristic emotional vocals blend with a dreamy synth-pop sound based on New Wave, deeply embodying the central sentiment of the album.
The core themes of the album are 'memory' and 'emotion.' Chuu stated, 'I usually think deeply about emotions and enjoy recording my feelings, so I often write in my diary, and sometimes I remember things as if they happened yesterday. I thought I couldn't let these records slip away since I believe there are those who have similar experiences. Whether through writing, video, or photos, emotions never disappear, and the places where emotions have passed leave traces. So, I attempted to express the fluctuations of memory and the intensity of emotions in this album by uniquely interpreting them through drawings like 'ASCII art' and 'synopsisequence.' I view these as something that exists clearly, even if they are not vivid.'
As she sings about 'memory' and 'emotion,' the songs and personal aspects intertwine. Chuu noted, 'The reason I feel attached to this album is that the various emotions I've felt over time have been metaphorically expressed. It's difficult to articulate directly, but I think things that can be direct come softly when melodies and lyrics combine. When I'm alone, my feelings can deepen, and I wanted to show my willingness to immerse myself in the songs. I believe I have become closer to my fans with this track.'
In particular, Chuu shared, 'I started writing in my diary in my second year of high school. There were times when I missed it during busy periods, but the writing and emotions don't disappear. There are days in my diary that I can no longer find in my photo album after a long time. I auditioned seven times in a month but failed every time, which led to my self-esteem being at its lowest. Even though my family tried to reassure me, there were times I felt down alone, but looking back at those clues made me feel anew. The word 'emotion' is really peculiar and mysterious.'
Meanwhile, Chuu's third mini album 'Only Cry in the Rain' will be released on the 21st at 6 p.m. through various online music sites.
