Actress Chae Seo-an compared her dating style to "When Life Gives You Tangerines."
On the 19th, a new video titled "Chae Seo-an, who has worked at seven part-time jobs, and her shocking ideal type... a #non-facetime interview of Mrs. Hak" was released on the YouTube channel "Harper's Bazaar Korea."
That day, when asked about her recent activities after "When Life Gives You Tangerines," Chae Seo-an said, "I finished filming in 2023 and shot an independent film titled 'The Fugitive.' After that project, I had a period of organizing things with my previous company. While contemplating how to spend my time, my friend worked at an outsourcing company and I had a job at a rice cake factory.
She continued, "I went to the cookie factory because it was too hard to keep working, but my skin started to get worse. It was in a production room with a lot of oil, so" she added that she did various part-time jobs afterwards, including at an electronics factory, a large corporation research facility, a card terminal manufacturer, a door lock manufacturer, and a CCTV quality team. She mentioned that it has been about a month since she quit her last part-time job.
Chae Seo-an noted, "I auditioned for 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' in 2022. It was an audition for a project that my previous company arranged. After I kept getting rejected for other projects, I received a call that I had been accepted, and it felt like a dream. I thought, 'Oh, this is such a good production,' but since my role isn't significant, I didn't expect to be loved as 'Mrs. Hak.' My family really liked it."
She added, "I haven't received many DMs in my life, so I can't read them all. However, occasionally when I happen to read a DM, I take a screenshot and save it."
Additionally, when asked which character she identifies with among Mrs. Hak, Aesoon, and Geum-myeong, Chae Seo-an replied, "I'm a type that, like Geum-myeong, can't stand frustrating situations and says everything in a calm manner." Regarding her ideal type, she said, "I like the style of Cillian Murphy's character, 'Tom Shelby,' from the British drama 'Peaky Blinders.' I like manly men."
When asked to name an ideal type in "When Life Gives You Tangerines," Chae Seo-an said, "I'm sorry to senior Kang-sik (played by Park Bo-gum), but I don't think I like very affectionate men. I seem to prefer charismatic figures, like Mr. Hak," which surprised the production team, who replied, "Really?" To this, Chae Seo-an added, "Yes, someone with a charismatic tsundere personality?"
Chae Seo-an expressed her desire to challenge herself in the genre of historical drama, stating, "I want to tell a heartbreaking love story that touches the heart."
Finally, regarding a role she feels she could have played well in "When Life Gives You Tangerines," she mentioned, "I think I could have done well as Hyun-suk too. I actually have an older brother, and the way we bicker feels very realistic like siblings, so I think I would have done well if I had played it."
Meanwhile, Chae Seo-an gained immense popularity for her role as young Yeong-ran in the Netflix series "When Life Gives You Tangerines," which was released last month.
