'My Liberation Notes' actress Yang So-min filled an episode of tvN's 'Resident Playbook.'
The tvN weekend drama 'Resident Playbook' (creator Shin Won-ho, Lee Woo-jung / director Lee Min-soo / screenplay Kim Song-hee / planning CJ ENM Studios / production Egg Is Coming) is set against the backdrop of an obstetrics and gynecology department where life (生) and death (死) coexist, telling the story of life's joys and sorrows, and is the first spin-off of the 'Hospital Playlist' series. In the episode aired just yesterday (19th), Yang So-min and Kim Da-hyun appeared as the mom and dad in separate episodes.
First, Yang So-min appeared as the mother of a student diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Upon hearing her daughter's diagnosis, Yang So-min, unlike her brave daughter, was anxious and shed tears. As her daughter approached delivery, she sought her boyfriend, and when Kim Da-hyun reached out, she was angered by the repeated absence notification voicemails. After the delivery, Kim Da-hyun checked her daughter's condition with the attending resident Sabi (played by Han Ye-ji) and, upon hearing that her daughter was healthy, finally took a close look at her grandchild and expressed her gratitude.
During this time, the boyfriend of her daughter, who had gone missing, returned, and after sharing the circumstances, he pledged to take responsibility for both the daughter and the baby, which relieved Kim Da-hyun. Although Sabi also extended congratulations, a smile quickly faded from Kim Da-hyun's face. She remarked that while the newly born grandchild was precious, it felt like an angel had come to restrain her daughter, and this scene was viewed as a candid showcase of the father's honest feelings prioritizing his daughter.
In this way, while Yang So-min and Kim Da-hyun appeared stoic and strong, they resonated with the impression of parents whose hearts weaken and crumble in front of their children. The deep acting of both actors shone through in this episode, leaving a profound impression on the viewers.
