In the first episode of the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jung/directed by Yoon Seong-sik), which aired on the 18th, Imugi Gang-cheol (played by Kim Young-kwang) was depicted trying to take over the body of Yeori (played by Kim Ji-yeon).
On that day, it was revealed that Imugi Gang-cheol, who attempted to ascend after a millennium of training, became an Imugi after being discovered by a human. He has been chasing after the most spiritual being, Yeori, for 13 years.
However, Yeori hated Gang-cheol. Thirteen years ago, when her grandmother tried to protect her by giving her the Gyeonggwisuk, Gang-cheol, unable to approach Yeori, killed her grandmother instead. Enraged, Yeori shouted, "I am just a human, so I cannot do anything to you. But I will never serve a wretched god like you. Even if I age, stumble, and my body crumbles, it's of no concern. This is my revenge on you."
Thirteen years have passed since then. Gang-cheol still tried to persuade Yeori. He said, "Even if I tremble at the thought of humans, if it's you, I would surely treat you kindly," adding, "This is a great divine being. What an admirable vessel you are. I will make you the best shaman and serve as your body master, performing the national blessings for you."
In response, Yeori challenged, "It was you who empowered that evil spirit. You used that evil spirit to detach the Gyeonggwisuk and aimed to take over my body, do you think I would not realize your dark intentions?" Gang-cheol retorted, "If you know so well, then why not just come over now? A decade can change mountains and rivers, but it has already been 13 years, Yeori."
Meanwhile, Yoon Gap (played by Yook Sung-jae) met Choi Won-woo (played by Ahn Nae-sang) under royal orders and encountered Yeori. Yoon Gap suggested going to Hanyang together, and Gang-cheol, who was listening quietly, warned, "Hanyang is out of the question. That person is currently deceiving you."
After Yoon Gap left, Yeori asked, "Why are you acting so crazily, what on earth is that person deceiving me about?" Gang-cheol explained, "Has that overflowing divine power been exchanged for something worthless? I am not trying to take you to the palace as your object of affection. This person is just using you to fulfill their own greed, whether you live or die."

As expected by Gang-cheol, Yoon Gap deceived Yeori. While walking together, Yoon Gap, left alone, expressed his regret, saying, "I'm sorry, Yeori. I deceived you. This is for the greater good. Do not forgive me." At that moment, the group led by Kwak Sang-chung confronted Yoon Gap about why he sought Choi Won-woo and what the king's intentions were. Furthermore, Kwak Sang-chung, unable to resist Yoon Gap's provocation, stabbed him with a knife, shocking everyone.
Witnessing this, Gang-cheol possessed Yoon Gap's body and went to find Yeori, declaring, "Yeori, you are now mine." Yeori, believing that Gang-cheol was the one who had killed Yoon Gap, furiously exclaimed, "It was you, you have killed him. As if that weren't enough, you've taken over his body!"
Then Gang-cheol said, "Now that the bothersome Gyeonggwisuk is gone, whether you believe me or not, it no longer matters. Once I become your body master, you will inevitably be my disciple and have to serve me wholeheartedly." Contrary to his thoughts, Gang-cheol could not escape from Yoon Gap's body and fell off a cliff with Yeori, who was trying to retrieve the Gyeonggwisuk, raising curiosity about the development of the story.
