Actor Park Hae-jun showcased his diverse charms on 'You Quiz on the Block'.
On the 16th, tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereinafter 'You Quiz') featured actor Park Hae-jun, who has made a name for himself through the drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', 'The World of the Married', and the movie 'Spring in Seoul'.
He became the nation's infamous adulterer after delivering the notorious line "Falling in love isn't a crime, is it?" during 'The World of the Married'. However, in the drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', he successfully transformed his image by playing the role of Yang Kwan-sik, who only loves his wife, daughter, and son.
Yoo Jae-suk noted, "My image was cemented with 'Falling in love isn't a crime, is it?' in the drama 'The World of the Married', but it has changed with 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'". Park Hae-jun said, "The representative I work with said, 'Now that the image of the adulterer has faded,' and was really happy. The reactions from people I meet now are different compared to then". He added, "During 'The World of the Married', people came but kept their distance. Now, they come with tears welling up in their eyes. I don't know how to handle it".
Park Hae-jun expressed his excitement, saying, "Hello, I'm Park Hae-jun. After the airing of 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', I'm feeling so elated, and I'm trying to calm this feeling down, but I can't help it. My heart is still lingering on it."
Park Hae-jun shared that he has only watched parts of the drama and plans to watch it one episode at a time when he feels comfortable. This brought laughter as Yoo Jae-suk mentioned, "IU's mother watched it three times through". Park Hae-jun replied, "My wife is the same. She paused while watching it".
Park Hae-jun stated that he tries to be the atmosphere maker on set. He felt a sense of empathy towards IU, saying, "I thought it must be tough for IU, having to play Yang Geum-myeong and Oh Ae-soon at the same time. I worried about her, so I tried to make things fun on set. My words may be awkward now, but they were quite entertaining on set. I try to bring up the mood."
Regarding Park Bo-gum, Park Hae-jun expressed nothing but gratitude. He remarked, "I felt a bit of pressure. I wondered what the viewers would think if they saw me looking older. While watching the drama, I thought, 'Bogum saved me'. There might be some dissonance for the audience, but I'm thankful that Bogum's portrayal of Kwan-sik made me reminiscent of him."
Furthermore, regarding IU, Park Hae-jun said, "IU made tangerine syrup for me, sent Korean beef during the holidays, and gave me ginseng," adding, "You do so much for me every holiday, and I don't know what gift to get you. Just tell me what gift you want, and I'll give you a big one, my dear." This heartfelt video letter to his junior caught attention.
