Actor Kim Soo-hyun's side has reportedly filed a damage compensation lawsuit against the family of the late Kim Sae-ron and Kim Se-yi, the representative of the Garosero Research Institute, while applying for an extension of the deadline without paying the expenses required for the trial.
On the 17th, News1 reported that the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 14 (Director General Jeong Ha-jeong) issued a correction order for court costs and delivery fees to Kim Soo-hyun's side on the 2nd.
Initially, Kim Soo-hyun's side stated they would file a damage compensation lawsuit amounting to 12 billion won, but the amount registered with the court was 11 billion won. As a result, the responsible court corrected the error in the lawsuit amount and ordered that the court costs and delivery fees be paid based on 12 billion won.
Court costs are legal expenses paid when applying for a lawsuit and are proportional to the claim amount. In this case, since Kim Soo-hyun's lawsuit amount is 12 billion won, the court costs and delivery fees are estimated to be around 38 million won.
In the meantime, Kim Soo-hyun's side is reported to have submitted an application for an extension of the correction deadline to the court on the 16th. It appears they submitted the extension application to postpone the payment deadline.
Typically, plaintiffs must complete corrections within seven days from the date delivery of the copy is received. If the court costs and delivery fees are not paid within the correction deadline, the lawsuit itself may be dismissed. Notably, Kim Soo-hyun received the court's correction order copy just prior to the seven-day mark, and having not paid the court costs and delivery fees, he has yet to enter the formal hearing stage. As a result, there are concerns regarding the possibility of the lawsuit being dismissed.
In this regard, an official from Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, told OSEN, "We are confirming the related details."
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun has recently been embroiled in allegations concerning his relationship with the deceased Kim Sae-ron during her minor years. The family of the late Kim Sae-ron claimed through the Garosero Research Institute that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship for about six years from 2015 to 2021. Initially denying the relationship, Kim Soo-hyun's side changed their stance when photos and letters indicating physical contact were made public, asserting that they had been in a relationship from the summer of 2019, after Kim Sae-ron became an adult, until the fall of 2020.
In response, the Garosero Research Institute released some KakaoTalk messages allegedly exchanged between Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron in 2016 and 2018, as well as videos and photos that appear to have been filmed at home. Amid growing concerns regarding grooming allegations against Kim Soo-hyun, he held a press conference on the 31st of last month, reiterating that he had never dated a minor.
Simultaneously, Kim Jong-bok, the attorney from LKB & Partners, stated, "We have filed a complaint against the family members and the unidentified individual who self-identified as 'Auntie,' as well as against the operators of Gaseyeon for violating laws related to the promotion of information and the protection of information and defamation. Additionally, we submitted a lawsuit claiming a total of 12 billion won in damage compensation today at the Seoul Central District Court."
