In Haunted Palace, Kim Ji-yeon is shocked by an attack from Shin Seul-ki, who is possessed by a ghost.
On April 18 at 9:50 p.m., the new SBS weekend drama Haunted Palace, following Buried Hearts (written by Yoon Soo-jung and directed by Yoon Sung-sik), presents a fantasy rom-com about a shaman named Yeori who rejects her fate, and an Imugi named Gang-cheol trapped in the body of Yeori's first love Yoon-gap, facing off against an eight-foot ghost harboring a grudge against the royal family. The drama, directed by Yoon Sung-sik, known for hits like Mr. Queen, Lee Soon Shin is the Best, Bridal Mask, and Dae Joyeong, has garnered high expectations along with the writer Yoon Soo-jung, who penned The King's Face and Cheer Up!
Among them, Kim Ji-yeon plays Yeori, the only granddaughter of a famous shaman, who possesses extraordinary abilities but rejects her fate as a shaman and lives as a craftsman of eyeglasses. Shin Seul-ki takes on the role of Choi In-seon, the only daughter from a prestigious family, who naturally possesses a clear and honest disposition.
In the midst of this, the Haunted Palace team reveals a still from the scene where Yeori is under a relentless attack from In-seon, heightening tension. Yeori is shown defenseless in broad daylight in a marketplace, with the silhouette of In-seon rushing towards her from behind, creating an atmosphere of urgency. Particularly striking is In-seon's appearance—dressed in a way unimaginable for a young lady from a noble family, and with a blood-soaked face that adds shock. Moreover, In-seon's gaze fixed on Yeori seems to be not of this world, filled with madness, sending chills down the spine. This raises curiosity about what will happen to Yeori and In-seon.
Meanwhile, Yeori heightens the tension as she engages in a fierce struggle against the possessed In-seon. For a moment, an unidentified entity chokes Yeori, who collapses on the ground in agony, appearing as if she might lose consciousness at any moment, shocking onlookers. This brings about a burst of curiosity about the identity of the entity attacking Yeori and how she might overcome this crisis.
In addition, Haunted Palace, featuring the unique character performances of actors Yoo Seong-jae (as Yoon-gap/Gang-cheol), Kim Ji-yeon, and Kim Ji-hoon (as Lee-jeong), is generating expectations even before its premiere. With the intense conflict between Kim Ji-yeon and Shin Seul-ki, as well as an unpredictable relationship, a richer story is anticipated. The first encounter of the two contrasting characters stimulates curiosity about the broadcast, as Haunted Palace promises a fast-paced narrative right from the start, raising expectations exponentially.
