SBS will replace the weekend '8 News' anchor with reporter Lee Hyun-young starting on the 19th (Saturday).
SBS has selected reporter Lee Hyun-young, who is a member of the MZ generation with extensive field reporting and broadcasting experience, as the sole anchor for the weekend '8 News', following anchor Jeong Yu-mi, who is also a former reporter. Anchor Lee Hyun-young, a '10-year journalist' who joined in 2016, has extensive experience in major departments including social affairs, politics, and investigative reporting, and has won the 'Broadcast Journalist of the Year' and 'Journalist of the Month' awards multiple times.
SBS noted that "Anchor Lee Hyun-young will add youthful and fresh energy to the weekend '8 News' as a field reporter." Anchor Lee Hyun-young said, "I know well how rigorously my fellow reporters verify facts before airing a story, and how much thought goes into conveying the essence within the article," adding, "I want to contribute so that viewers can fully feel that effort." She continued, "I have met various people in the field and have many insights from those encounters, and I will continue to think and strive so that those insights can be naturally blended into the news."
Reporter Jeong Yu-mi, who has led the weekend '8 News' with stability for the past two years, plans to focus more on hosting SBS YouTube's 'Political Consulting Stove League.' Especially during the presidential election period, she plans to increase programming and meet with YouTube viewers more frequently.
In addition, the sports news of 'SBS 8 News' on weekdays will also be replaced with a new face.
Starting on the 28th, anchor Kim Seon-jae will take over the sports news from anchor Kim Da-young, who will conclude her final broadcast on the 25th. Kim Seon-jae, who joined in 2015, demonstrated her proficient hosting skills on 'Saturday Morning Wide', 'Live Today', and 'Man in Black Box'.
In response, anchor Kim said, "Since this is my first time with sports news, I will return to my original mindset and approach it with a learning and studying attitude." She also noted, "I recently started learning tennis, and I feel like I've gained a deeper appreciation for the allure and strength of sports through personal experience. I will convey sports news vividly and engagingly in the evening time slot, as much as I can express my own feelings."
