'6 o'clock, My Hometown' Kim Jeong-yeon received a fan meeting-level welcome from the citizens of Seosan.
On the broadcast of KBS1's '6 o'clock, My Hometown' aired on the 15th, the appearance of 'National Guide Girl' Kim Jeong-yeon on the hometown bus in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, was featured. When Kim Jeong-yeon, who boarded the bus that day, greeted the passengers, the interior of the bus instantly transformed into a venue for the guide girl's fan meeting.
Passengers who recognized Kim Jeong-yeon expressed their joy in various ways, saying, "Oh, how nice to see you," "It's the guide girl," and "It's my hometown." An elder even went so far as to inform the new passengers boarding the bus that Kim Jeong-yeon was on board, promoting the guide girl.
In addition, the elders collectively expressed their affection for Kim Jeong-yeon, saying, "She looks even prettier in person." While one elder playfully remarked, "The TV version looks prettier," the elder who had been promoting her rolled their eyes and said, "That's not true," comforting Kim Jeong-yeon.
The affection for Kim Jeong-yeon even led to worries about not having enough seating. When Kim Jeong-yeon insisted that she was fine, the elder rummaged through their bag and handed her a banana. While Kim Jeong-yeon was surprised by the generosity of Seosan's people, the elder again took out two additional bananas and handed them to the filming crew.
The filming crew, who received bananas as gifts, waved the bananas at the camera with big smiles. Thanks to the unique affection of the elders for the guide girl, the crew, unexpectedly receiving gifts, looked happier than ever.
In an interview, Kim Jeong-yeon noted, "In 4 years, I will also turn 60. As I age and my knees hurt, I have become an expert in elderly issues. I want to listen to important stories from the elderly so that they can be happier and convey them to the viewers, and I wish to celebrate my 60th birthday on the hometown bus."
Although Kim Jeong-yeon is now more familiar as the 'National Guide Girl,' he is actually from Seoul and was not accustomed to rural bus situations. However, since the first broadcast in 1991, having traveled all over the country and boarded countless buses, he has now become an expert who understands the sincerity and situations of the elderly better than anyone.
The warm and solid affection of the elders for Kim Jeong-yeon on '6 o'clock, My Hometown' likely stems from this reason. The viewers hope that the meeting between the National Guide Girl and the elders will continue for a long time.
