Ailee and Choi Si-hoon, as well as Kim Chang-ok, expressed their concerns about fake news and rumors.
On the 15th, the tvN STORY show "Kim Chang-ok Show 3" featured April's bride, singer Ailee, and her husband Choi Si-hoon as guests.
That day, Ailee said, "We are fans of Mr. Kim Chang-ok. Whenever something is posted on social media, we share it with each other," and added, "However, as we approach our wedding, we also wanted to hear good words directly from him."
Although they are about to get married, the couple had concerns. Ailee mentioned, "This might be a concern we have to bear for a lifetime, but since my husband is constantly exposed to the media and online, people compare us or make up stories, spreading rumors. He really gets hurt by that a lot." She continued, "My husband really works hard. He lives diligently while doing various jobs, but people think he is jobless. He is not just an influencer; he also works and is employed by a company. He works hard, but people only think of me as the one working, as if I am the only one who can financially support myself. It is really upsetting to see those kinds of articles. I feel really bad because there is nothing I can do about it."
Choi Si-hoon also confessed, "After I appeared on 'Single's Inferno,' rumors started to circulate, and it was so hard for me when my life, which I had worked hard for, was denied. I didn't want to continue my activities. I wished people wouldn't recognize me. But eventually, I married my wife, and interest began to grow again, which led to such stories. I really live hard, but that is really upsetting." Ailee added, "Because of the jobless rumors, it prevents me from spending my money."
In response, Hwang Je-seong joked, "Isn't it your wife who leaves the negative comments? 'Every time you run, she gives you something?' You should investigate a bit," and Choi Si-hoon revealed, "I tell her not to read them, but when I'm next to her, she still sees them. I don't want to hear them, but she keeps looking at them." Ailee explained, "I know what he will see, so I check in advance. I want to know what he will be looking at so I can comfort him afterward."
Additionally, when asked by the panelists how to overcome a hurt heart, Choi Si-hoon said, "Work is hard, and mentally it's tough, so at some point, I lose expression and become like a robot. During that time, I have sat in my house for a long time. When it gets too hard, I just sit silently in a room with no one and gather my emotions."
In particular, when Hwang Je-seong remarked, "You must have had many thoughts," Ailee responded, "If you hadn't met me. I could have lived without worrying about what others think and not have suffered. I feel so sorry. But still, I'm grateful that you chose me. Those feelings come to me," as she shed tears, evoking sympathy.
Hearing their story, Kim Chang-ok confessed, "I'm similar to both of you. Whenever I have many lectures, there are many comments—thousands of them. I end up looking at them, and while there are comments, I read them once and then again. I think about them. The negative comments appear magnified, while the supportive ones are hard to see." He continued, "I was tested for Alzheimer's last year, and the next day, the article confirmed it as 'Alzheimer's.' After that, they even said I retired. For six months, when people saw me, they would say, 'Wishing you a long life.'"
As a result, Kim Chang-ok said, "That prompted me to think for myself. First, do I want everyone to like me? Second, this work doesn't seem to fit me. It's tough not wanting to be evaluated by someone, it feels like I'm always auditioning."
Finally, Kim Chang-ok advised the two, "However, have you ever encountered someone in person who said negative things like hate comments? No, right? Those will all vanish like morning mist. If they were real, they would come out and say it. Most of what is written is just an illusion." He added, "Jeju Island has a lot of fake speed bumps. You should be cautious of fake speed bumps, but there's no need to be scared. In time, it will ultimately be proven."
