The energetic director Park Jun-soo is returning with "24-Hour Health Club."
Scheduled to premiere on the 30th at 9:50 p.m., KBS2's new Wednesday-Thursday drama "24-Hour Health Club" (written by Kim Ji-soo, directed by Park Jun-soo and Choi Yeon-soo, produced by CJ ENM STUDIOS, Bonfactory, Monster Union, KeyEast) is a heart-pounding comic romance about a gym enthusiast manager, Do Hyun-jung, who makes bold corrections in the lives of his overly anxious gym members.
As the premiere approaches, on the 16th, director Park Jun-soo of "24-Hour Health Club" revealed the directing points and behind-the-scenes stories of the work.
Director Park Jun-soo noted, "Seeing the gym enthusiast Hyun-jung reminded me of my own turbulent times when I once dreamed of being a bodybuilder; I felt a sense of kinship. The character, who is deeply engrossed in something, was so attractive that there was no reason not to be involved," sharing the motivations behind his direction.
Director Park said, "Our bodies are beautiful as they are. So let's take better care of and love ourselves," expressing the message he wanted to convey through "24-Hour Health Club." He also mentioned, "The internal and external growth of Hyun-jung and Mi-ran was the main story, and since it is a warm drama, I was wary of it becoming too moralistic or emotionally draining. I thought of it as fundamentally a comic drama, so I focused on making it funny."
Director Park Jun-soo did not hold back his praise for actors Lee Jun-young and Jeong Eun-ji. He said, "All the actors had excellent character and acting skills. Lee Jun-young completely shed his good looks to play a comedic character, but he couldn't hide his charm and was kind to everyone. Jeong Eun-ji brought to life the humorous situations so well that it made me think 'she truly is Jeong Eun-ji,' and she always created a pleasant atmosphere on set. Actor Lim Yi-do had such great ideas that he could be called the female Yoo Se-yoon, and actor Lee Seung-woo showcased a pure, childlike charm with his cheerful character," expressing his affection for the cast.
Director Park described the chemistry among the actors as "a very tight-knit university gym club." He stated, "The actors were friendly without any reservations, and especially the chemistry between Lee Jun-young and Jeong Eun-ji was fantastic and spectacular. Laughter was constant on set, and I hope that laughter reaches the viewers as well," expressing his anticipation for the live broadcast.
To describe the work, director Park Jun-soo highlighted keywords such as "1.5kg dumbbell," "muscle loss," and "Hawaii," saying, "Hawaii is the ideal destination for Mi-ran in the play, and the reason for selecting the 1.5kg dumbbell as a keyword will be understood when watching the drama." He added, "'24-Hour Health Club' is the first drama featuring a gym background and a gym enthusiast as the protagonist. I hope it is remembered as a cute and fun project, and I wish viewers would take just a moment to love themselves a little more while watching the drama. Please do watch the live broadcast, as tears may lead to muscle loss, but laughter may lead to gains."
KBS2's new Wednesday-Thursday drama "24-Hour Health Club" will premiere on the 30th at 9:50 p.m., following "Villains Everywhere."
