'Go master' Cho Hun-hyeon will appear on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter, You Quiz).
Recently, the 'You Quiz' team announced via their official social media, "The real protagonist of the movie 'The Match'! The emperor of the Go world, Cho Hun-hyeon, is coming. Starting with the story of a Go prodigy who saved his father at the age of five (?) when he first learned to play, to the tale of his match against his disciple Lee Chang-ho, who posed no rivals for him!"
Continuing, they increased viewers' anticipation with the line, "The immortal player Cho Hun-hyeon, who will be remembered in Go history! The legendary match between the global Go master Cho Hun-hyeon and his disciple Lee Chang-ho. And the feelings of actor Lee Byung-hun, who portrayed him, adding to a story more cinematic than the movie itself."
In the trailer video and photos released, Cho Hun-hyeon appears with white hair, greeting Yoo Jae-suk and Cho Sae-ho. He humorously recounted stories from his childhood, when he was called a Go prodigy, and anecdotes about his disciple Lee Chang-ho, reminiscing about the time he lost in their teacher-student rivalry, stating, "Rather than feeling bitter, it was miserable. We took the same car home. I couldn't just say, 'You take the bus.'"
The story of Cho Hun-hyeon and Lee Chang-ho has been adapted into the movie 'The Match,' which is currently welcoming audiences in theaters. Cho Hun-hyeon praised Lee Byung-hun, who played him in the film, saying, "That actor Lee Byung-hun was marvelous. I am a Go master 9-dan, and Lee Byung-hun is an acting 9-dan." In a special interview for Cho Hun-hyeon, Lee Byung-hun revealed, "I intensely studied his unique expressions, sitting posture, and mouth shape."
In addition to Cho Hun-hyeon, episode 289 of 'You Quiz' will feature 10-year-old Jeong Tae-woon, who saved his mother with CPR, and actor Park Hae-jun from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.' The show is set to air today (16th, Wed) at 8:45 p.m.
Meanwhile, 'The Match' has topped the weekend box office for three consecutive weeks, close to surpassing 2 million viewers. Lee Byung-hun plays Cho Hun-hyeon, and Yoo Ah-in plays Lee Chang-ho, completing a masterpiece film.
