The late Kim Sae-ron was alleged to have undergone a shamanic ritual to return to acting while alive, but an associate denied the claim as untrue.
On the 11th, YouTuber A claimed through their channel that the late Kim Sae-ron received a shamanic ritual at a famous shrine in Seoul last September.
A said, "(Kim Sae-ron) initially had no intention of receiving a shamanic ritual. However, they suffered from frequent nightmares and physical ailments. In particular, Kim Sae-ron had a strong desire to return to acting, and the idea that receiving a shamanic ritual would allow a return to acting strongly shook Kim Sae-ron."
They continued, "According to acquaintances, it was initially said that by paying an expense of 10 million to 15 million won, one could receive a shamanic ritual, but once the ghost ritual process was completed, it was learned that a tremendous additional expense was required. The additional expense amounted to 30 million won, and Kim Sae-ron tried to borrow money from acquaintances but ultimately failed."
However, according to Hankyung.com on the 14th, an associate of Kim Sae-ron's family refuted A's claims, stating, "The notion that Kim Sae-ron underwent a shamanic ritual is false. Absolutely not."
They added, "In the past, Kim Sae-ron became interested in the field after appearing in a work based on folk beliefs. The shaman is merely an acquaintance of Kim Sae-ron and nothing more."
The associate stated that Kim Sae-ron naturally became interested in folk beliefs after encountering them through the film "Manshin," released in 2014, and the drama "Woosumudang Gadu Sim," aired in 2021.
Meanwhile, Kim Sae-ron was found dead on Feb. 16 in their home located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. They were 25 years old.
Subsequently, Kim Sae-ron's family sued YouTuber A for defamation due to false statements, claiming that the deceased experienced severe psychological pressure while alive because of A's video. They also filed another lawsuit against A for stalking related to continued personal exposure videos.
