The agency of The Boyz announced a strong response to the malicious comments directed at Sunwoo.
On the 15th, The Boyz's agency, Hundred, stated through its official social media, "We would like to inform you about the legal proceedings regarding the spread of false information and malicious posts concerning member Sunwoo."
The agency stated, "To date, we have collected evidence of malicious posts and comments through tips from fans and our own monitoring," adding, "Based on this, we filed a complaint on the 15th with the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul requesting an investigation for defamation, insult, and spreading false information."
It emphasized, "Even after this notice, we will continue to collect and review malicious posts directed at our artists and members, and we plan to swiftly proceed with legal actions without any leniency or negotiation."
Previously, Sunwoo of The Boyz faced 'character controversy' for showing disrespectful behavior toward a security guard who picked up an item he dropped. Instead of picking up the earphones he dropped while moving, Sunwoo shouted, "My earphones," and merely waited. When the security guard picked up the earphones and handed them to him, the manner in which Sunwoo received them with one hand was criticized as rude.
As the scene spread through social media, it caused controversy, and Sunwoo clarified through a fandom platform, "I would never shout at the security guard to pick up my earphones while there are fans behind me. It's ridiculous. While I was trying to reflect on how I appeared, it's frightening to see people throwing baseless insults based on that few seconds of video."
However, the criticism continued, and the agency, Hundred, expressed through an apology that it "deeply regrets that the artist acted thoughtlessly." Sunwoo also released an apology, saying, "I sincerely apologize to everyone who has felt discomfort and hurt due to my immature responses."
