Bodybuilder and fitness trainer Hwang Cheol-soon, known for his role as 'Jing Man' on 'Comedy Big League,' has been sued by his wife on charges of defamation and injury.
Hwang Cheol-soon disclosed a photo of the lawsuit via his personal social media on the 14th. The lawsuit included claims from his wife, referred to as A, accusing Hwang Cheol-soon of injury, causing shock.
However, Hwang Cheol-soon appealed for his innocence regarding this matter. "As expected, if it is unfavorable, they attempt to manipulate the situation again with tactics used years ago," he said. He remarked, "I wasn't even near, yet there is a report of assault," claiming that "the perpetrator and the victim have swapped roles in this world of media play."
On the 15th, attorney Shim Kyu-deok from the law firm representing A stated through a media outlet that "we visited the Seoul Gwanak Police Station today with the victim (A) to submit the lawsuit against Hwang Cheol-soon regarding injury and violations of the Information and Communications Network Act," emphasizing that it is not false.
In particular, he addressed Hwang Cheol-soon's claim on social media, stating that his wife's lawsuit is false, asserting that "it constitutes defamation by publication of false facts." He argued that the level of assault was excessive enough to warrant a lawsuit.
Hwang Cheol-soon appeared on tvN's entertainment program 'Comedy Big League,' where he became known as 'Jing Man.' He was indicted on charges of assaulting a former partner on Oct. 16, 2023. Sentenced to 9 months in prison in the second trial, he was paroled in January of this year.
He then caused controversy again in March when he exposed allegations regarding his wife's private life through personal social media. At that time, Hwang Cheol-soon expressed, "My assets have disappeared, and only debts under my name have increased. Even if I have a meeting, it's only at drinking parties, or she would let things slide and ignore the promises of repayment," also adding that money sent from people around to facilitate a settlement was intercepted, and expressed anger that his wife even changed their children's names without permission.
However, A's side rebutted that although Hwang Cheol-soon had committed adultery, they have tried to reach a settlement so he wouldn't become a criminal record as the father of their two children and hired a lawyer at their own expense to assist. Nevertheless, they insist that Hwang Cheol-soon's violent tendencies have not changed and continued to assault his wife, leading to charges during the divorce proceedings.
