Comedian Park Na-rae was the victim of a theft worth millions of won at her residence in Itaewon, and it has been clarified that the act was not an inside job, with an arrest made.
On the 14th, Park Na-rae's representatives said, "We would like to inform you of the status regarding the recent theft that took place at Park Na-rae's residence," and "We regard the incident as a theft by an outsider, and submitted CCTV footage from her home to the police on the 8th, requesting an investigation."
They added, "Subsequently, the police identified the suspect and made an arrest, and it appears that an arrest warrant has already been issued. We are very grateful that the suspect was apprehended following a swift investigation by the authorities, and we appreciate their hard work."
In particular, they stated, "There have been suggestions that it could be an inside job, but we clearly state that this is not the case. We respectfully ask that you refrain from reporting unverified information."
Finally, they added, "Additionally, baseless rumors are indiscriminately spreading through online communities and social media. We emphasize that we will take strong legal action against these falsehoods without any leniency."
Earlier on the 8th, news broke that Park Na-rae had been the victim of a theft at her home. That day, the Yongsan Police Station confirmed that they had received a report from Park Na-rae's team and had begun an investigation.
A representative for Park Na-rae told OSEN, "Recently, a theft occurred at her home, and it was confirmed on the 7th." According to the representative, items worth millions of won were stolen. Park Na-rae suffered from poor condition due to the theft and ultimately was unable to make her live radio program appearance.
Park Na-rae explained, "Since I live alone as a woman and my manager is also female, I can't help but feel scared, and after staying up all night, I showed symptoms of a cold and discomfort today," evoking sympathy.
Park Na-rae became the owner of a luxury single-family dwelling worth over 5.5 billion won through an auction in the Itaewon neighborhood of Yongsan, Seoul. The dwelling owned by Park Na-rae has a building area of 319.34 square meters (96.6 pyeong) and consists of one basement level and two above-ground floors, featuring five rooms. This house has frequently appeared on MBC's "I Live Alone."
However, after being the victim of a theft worth millions of won, reports surfaced indicating that the police were conducting an investigation considering it an inside job. Although a theft incident occurred at Park Na-rae's home, there was no sign of intrusion from outside. This has raised the possibility of wrongdoing by someone who has familiarity with her home.
Nevertheless, Park Na-rae's team stated, "Since this is related to the investigation, it is difficult to confirm, and we are cautious about making an official statement." However, the agency clarified that an inside job is not true, and the police have identified and apprehended the suspect.
