MBC denied rumors of an indefinite scheduling delay for "Chef of the South Pole," which has generated anticipation due to the appearance of Baek Jong-won, the representative of Theborn Korea.
On the 14th, a representative from MBC stated to OSEN, "'Chef of the South Pole' was filmed with the aim to air in April; however, due to news specials and the early presidential election, the scheduling has been adjusted, and the precise broadcast time will be announced as soon as it is confirmed."
"Chef of the South Pole" is a program that documents the process of providing a warm meal for wintering team members who are isolated in the harsh Antarctic environment due to a sense of mission. The program, co-produced by the production company STUDIO X+U under LG U+ and the terrestrial broadcaster MBC, has generated anticipation.
In particular, "Chef of the South Pole" generated excitement due to the appearance of Baek Jong-won. Known as the "lend" of the food industry and the "god of business," Baek Jong-won is set to serve a meal in Antarctica alongside actress Im Soo-hyang, Cha Jong-hyup, and Suho, the leader of the idol group EXO, creating a heartwarming atmosphere.
Amid this, reports emerged on the 14th that the airing of "Chef of the South Pole" has been indefinitely postponed. Earlier, some online communities had posted about the delay in airing the program. A media outlet reported the indefinite postponement, citing a broadcasting official.
However, a representative from MBC emphasized to OSEN, "It is true that the airing of 'Chef of the South Pole' has been postponed from the original plan. However, the indefinite postponement is not accurate." The representative explained, "The filming for 'Chef of the South Pole' began in October of last year and concluded in December. At that time, it was true that we were discussing the airing in April of this year."
Most importantly, "However, the production team returned after completing all filming by December of last year, when the nation was in a state of emergency due to the impeachment and tumultuous conditions. This led to frequent news specials, and with the impeachment motion being confirmed, the early presidential election continued. As a result, the airing of 'Chef of the South Pole' has also been postponed," the representative emphasized, adding, "We will provide information as soon as the exact broadcast time for 'Chef of the South Pole' is determined."
