The burglar involved in the theft case that occurred at the home of comedian Park Na-rae has been apprehended. The suspect is reportedly a man in his 30s with a history of theft.
On the morning of the 14th, the police stated at a regular briefing, "We arrested suspect A on the 10th and are currently investigating him under detention."
A is facing charges of stealing valuables worth millions of won after entering Park Na-rae's house located in Itaewon, Yongsan District, Seoul, on the 4th. A is also under investigation for committing theft in the Yongsan District area in late March.
While tracking down A based on CCTV footage, the police confirmed that A was the same person who stole valuables from Park Na-rae's house and arrested him. A, who is known to be in his 30s, acted alone without any accomplices and reportedly broke in from outside without knowing it was Park Na-rae's house. Additionally, it was reported that the stolen valuables worth millions of won were put up for sale.
Meanwhile, news that Park Na-rae had suffered a theft incident at her home was first reported on the 8th. Initially, Park Na-rae was unable to appear on a live radio broadcast due to health issues; however, it was later revealed that the actual reason was that a theft incident had occurred at her home.
A representative of Park Na-rae told OSEN, "A recent theft incident occurred at her home, and we confirmed it on the 7th. Living alone in a house with a female manager, she was understandably frightened, and after staying up all night, she showed symptoms of a cold, which led to her absence from 'Son Tae-jin's Trot Radio.'"
Following that, reports emerged suggesting that the police were investigating the incident as an internal affair, raising the possibility that someone familiar with Park Na-rae's house was involved. At the time, Park Na-rae spoke cautiously, asking for understanding; however, following the report, close acquaintances faced suspicion as potential culprits.
However, after the culprit was apprehended, it became clear that the crime was committed by an outsider, not an insider. Park Na-rae's team also issued a formal statement saying, "The police arrested the suspect after identifying his identity, and it seems that a warrant for his detention has already been issued. We are very relieved that the suspect was apprehended thanks to the swift investigation by law enforcement, and we are grateful for their efforts," and added, "Although there were suggestions of an internal motive, we wish to clarify that this is not the case. We kindly request restraint on reporting unverified information."
In particular, regarding the rumors, they warned, "Additionally, unfounded falsehoods are being recklessly spread through online communities and social media. We emphasize that we will take strong legal action without leniency against such falsehoods."
