Actor Son Chang-min revealed the reason for his appearance in 'Catch Your Luck.'
At the online press conference for the new KBS 1TV daily drama 'Catch Your Luck' held on the morning of the 14th, director Park Man-young and actors Son Chang-min, Sunwoo Jae-deok, Park Sang-myun, Lee Ah-hyun, Oh Young-sil, and Ahn Yeon-hong attended and shared their thoughts.
'Catch Your Luck' (written by Son Ji-hye and directed by Park Man-young and Lee Hae-woo) is a drama that depicts the tumultuous growth of three friends who are rich, poor, and wish to be rich, and their families, with the first episode airing today at 8:30 p.m.
Son Chang-min plays the character Han Mu-cheol, the owner of Daewon Building. Han Mu-cheol is a character who, unaware of his wife being precious or his children being lovely, has become a landlord receiving monthly rent after being a construction worker who only focused on making money, but he ends up being scammed due to his greed.
On that day, Son Chang-min discussed his decision to appear in the drama, saying, "The role has a wide spectrum for acting. It's a character I wanted to challenge myself with at least once," adding, "In the early stages, he lost his parents and was raised by his grandmother, walking only towards success, but everything is about economics and money. There is another twist hidden behind that. Now, I wonder how to express it as an actor. That remains a task for me."
When asked if he found it difficult to portray the image of a stingy and miserly landlord, he responded, "I can see it commonly around me. Our older generation, mentors, and parents have lived their lives hard. They achieved a lot, but they can never spend it," and explained, "So, objectively, I thought it was unfortunate, but I ended up taking on that role. While seeing unfortunate people, I worried about why they lived like that, so I thought I could express it better."
Meanwhile, 'Catch Your Luck,' featuring Son Chang-min, will air its first episode today at 8:30 p.m. on KBS 1TV.
