The group NCT WISH has expressed its ambition to embark on a global stadium tour.
NCT WISH recently held an interview to commemorate the release of its second mini-album 'poppop' at a studio in Yongsan, Seoul, and discussed the new album.
Debuting in February last year, NCT WISH has recorded nearly 2 million album sales with three albums released last year, including the debut single 'WISH,' the second single 'Songbird,' and mini album 'Steady,' setting the highest sales record for debut artists in 2024 and sweeping various rookie awards at domestic ceremonies, demonstrating an unstoppable momentum over the past year.
When asked about memorable moments from the past year, Jaehee noted, "After completing the activities for 'Steady,' I had many concerns about my vocals, but I think I have grown in that aspect as I was able to express myself during the Japanese full album. I feel like I am gradually discovering how to sing during this tour, so I am looking forward to this year as well, and I think it will be fun to continue activities with the members."
Yushin added, "I remember concluding the performance in Macau well," noting, "Focusing on communicating with the audience during performances makes it more enjoyable for everyone. As I have done many performances, I feel more comfortable on stage, and I think I can create a fulfilling performance with each show."
NCT WISH, which drew attention with roaring cheers similar to senior groups at the SM 30th anniversary concert 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 [THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE] in SEOUL' held last January, conveyed, "The cheers from our fans were so loud that we felt good on stage, and I think it is a great honor to perform alongside such amazing seniors."
Regarding the most impressive stage, Jaehee said, "On the second day, Hwanhee sunbaenim came out. I used to sing along to his songs a lot when I was young. The older members liked Hwanhee sunbaenim," while Sion expressed admiration, saying, "For me, it was the stage with Bada sunbaenim. I was amazed because he sang so well during rehearsal; he's definitely a legend."
Sion, who performed the stage for 'Only One' alongside BoA, recalled, "At first, BoA sent me a message saying we should practice together, so I became aware of it. It felt awkward since there were many unfamiliar dancers during practice and rehearsal, but I enjoyed the main stage because the cheers were so loud that I didn't feel nervous."
Since NCT WISH consists of Korean and Japanese members, cultural differences are significant. Ryo expressed gratitude, stating, "Jaehee hyung often tells me how things are done in Korea," while Sakuya commented, "I found it interesting to eat seaweed soup on my birthday. In Japan, we just eat cake. Those are the foods I like."
They have also been influenced by dialects from the Korean members. Sakuya mentioned, "I didn't know, but Sion hyung uses dialect," while Ryo remarked, "I also asked why he suddenly used dialect during our conversations. I realize I was using it unconsciously." To this, Sion added, "In fact, there's not a single person here who uses standard language correctly," causing laughter.
When asked about the secret to NCT WISH's popularity, the members said, "I think it's because we are harmonious with six people. Every time we perform, we work hard, and I think the effort looks cute to the fans, which is why they like us. We also think our six voices harmonize well. Fans have mentioned that too, and when we recorded the song this time with all six of us, it felt like the song wasn't complete without all six of us."
Finally, NCT WISH, which is planning to hold a concert within this year, stated about the stage they wish to perform on, "We have been discussing this lately, and after performing at a stadium in Seoul for the first time, we realized that as the venue size increases, the production can change, and seeing more fans come to support us has sparked a goal to do a stadium tour around the world."
