The group NCT WISH has returned with an even fresher charm for spring.
NCT WISH recently conducted an interview at a studio in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the release of their second mini-album 'poppop' and discussed their new album.
In February, member Riku returned after a four-month hiatus, and NCT WISH, having resumed group activities, stated, "We have come back as a complete group, and I really want to promote this album quickly because I love the songs included. I believe it will be an exciting round of promotions," and added, "I want to work hard with the six of us for this promotion."
Riku expressed anticipation for the comeback activities, saying, "I've gained more composure on stage compared to when we debuted, and I want to get closer to the fans while performing."
NCT WISH's new release 'poppop' is an album that tells the story of feeling all new emotions of first love, capturing the colorful feelings of clumsy first love, and the members plan to showcase their unique colors with a little more growth and expressiveness, embodying the essence of 'freshness & neo.'
Regarding the pre-order quantity surpassing 1 million copies for this second mini-album, Jaehee noted, "I was surprised to hear it, and I felt that we are loved by many. I thought that we must become NCT WISH who can give back as much love as we receive," while Sion also stated, "Since we are receiving love and attention from many, I feel the responsibility to promote more conscientiously."
The title track 'poppop' is a dance pop song featuring a bouncy melody, a heavy bass line that comes with bells and lead synths, and dynamic percussion sounds that create harmony, capturing the excitement of how everything feels alive, like a scene from an animation, when one falls in love, and even familiar streets and landscapes feel new.
Sion explained about the title track, "It's a rhythmic song, and the point is the fairy-tale-like lyrics that express NCT WISH's fresh emotions and confessions." Jaehee added, "There's a lyric that goes, 'The main characters in the animation are you and me,' which captures a cute and innocent love story where everything seems beautiful when you fall in love, making it enjoyable to listen to."
NCT WISH has received great love with their songs like 'WISH,' 'Songbird,' and 'Steady' that embody the 'freshness & neo' concept, and this album is also filled with a delightful freshness.
When asked if there are any concepts they want to try other than freshness, Sion replied, "I want to try all the concepts that SNEEZY wants to see," and added, "Among the songs included, 'Melt Inside My Pocket' and the stage itself have a stronger feel compared to the styles we previously did as WISH."
When asked what NCT WISH's unique freshness is, the members said, "It feels like we are showing our usual selves on stage. It seems that a lot of people love our natural image," and added, "The energy or atmosphere we radiate as a six-member group might be what many refer to as our freshness. The choreography is pretty challenging compared to the song, so that aspect also seems to have its charm."
NCT WISH is called a 'fifth-generation leader' as they receive a hot response both domestically and internationally right after their debut. Sakuya expressed gratitude, saying, "It's thanks to the fans who love us so much, even though we debuted not long ago. I think we need to be more responsible moving forward."
Lastly, regarding their goals for this promotion, Jaehee stated, "Rather than a goal, I hope our song is played often while walking down the road. I think there are many songs among the included ones that I like, so I believe it will sound good to the public. I hope to hear it being played around a lot."
Then Sion said, "I hope all six of us can be healthy during our activities this year," while Ryo conveyed the wish, "I want to be at the top of the music charts."
