Actress Hong Hwa-yeon revealed a heavy presence in 'Buried Hearts' with her delicate emotional acting, while expressing her thoughts on the conclusion.
In the SBS drama 'Buried Hearts,' which concluded on Saturday, 12th (Dec.), Hong Hwa-yeon played the role of Ye Eun-nam, the granddaughter of Chairman Cha Kang-cheon of the Daesan Group (played by Woo Hyun), and maintained a heavy presence until the end by portraying complex psychological changes with restrained emotion.
Ye Eun-nam was a character standing on the boundary of truth and lies, love and suspicion. In particular, the scene in the final episode where she asks Dong-joo (played by Park Hyung-sik), 'Did you kill him?' amid the suspicions surrounding the disappearance of Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Jun-ho) heightened the tension of the show. Hong Hwa-yeon delicately captured various layers of emotion, conveying Eun-nam's wavering inner self and drawing deep immersion.
Moreover, the short line, 'Well done, Dong-joo,' was a moment that compressed the complex inner world of the character Ye Eun-nam. Hong Hwa-yeon quietly encapsulated feelings of sadness, compassion, and forgiveness within a firmness that resisted collapse, leaving a strong lingering effect without excess and completing the scene.
Overall, Hong Hwa-yeon added realism by suppressing and accumulating emotions rather than bursting them forth. She excellently portrayed the point where sharp reason and heavy emotion intersect. Additionally, even within the tense opposing structure between characters, she maintained her center, leading the flow of the drama steadily while adding credibility to the character Ye Eun-nam.
Hong Hwa-yeon conveyed her affection for the drama, saying, 'Buried Hearts has brought me great happiness since I was cast, throughout filming, and even now that it has aired. So I think it will stay in my memory for a long time. I feel happy and sentimental that our show was loved by many. I would like to thank everyone who participated in 'Buried Hearts' from the beginning to the end.'
She also expressed her bold aspiration, saying, 'In the future, I want to be an actress named Hong Hwa-yeon, who brings good energy to many people. I want to be a presence that makes someone smile, even if only for a moment, when they think of me. I will strive to show good appearances, so please watch over me for a long time. Thank you.'
In this way, Hong Hwa-yeon created the weight of her character by layering emotions with restraint. There is increasing anticipation for her next steps, as she vividly depicted the character's emotions through Ye Eun-nam.
