The group NewJeans expressed gratitude to their fandom, Bunnies, as they paused activities.
On the 11th, the members of NewJeans posted on their social media account story created during their individual activities, saying, "I received the letters sent by Bunnies. Each letter is precious, and I read them every day without fail."
The members of NewJeans said, "I can't help but cry because I can feel the words of comfort, encouragement, and the love you're giving me. Sometimes I feel scared about whether it's okay to receive this much love. That's why I try to be someone Bunnies can be proud of."
They added, "We are going through a tough time right now, but I gain a lot of strength when communicating with Bunnies. When I read the letters imagining Bunnies writing them, I feel like you are sitting in front of me and talking directly. I don't find it hard at all when I think we can meet Bunnies anytime. A time will come when we can all enjoy together."
In particular, the members of NewJeans said, "I am eating well, sleeping well, listening to a lot of music, and spending enjoyable times with my family and members every day. And I am spending happy times thinking about Bunnies, so I hope Bunnies stay healthy and happy every day."
The members of NewJeans are currently in a temporary suspension of activities. On the 21st of last month, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Division No. 50 (presiding judge Kim Sang-hoon) accepted the injunction request filed by ADOR against the five members of NewJeans for 'the preservation of agency status and prohibition of executing advertising contracts' and made an acceptance decision, and the members of NewJeans declared a halt to their activities at a concert in Hong Kong.
The members of NewJeans filed a petition against the court's decision to accept the injunction, and a hearing was held on the 9th regarding this matter. Unlike the hearing for the injunction, the hearing for the petition was conducted in private, and it ended in 15 minutes without the members present. A representative from ADOR said, "There have been no significant changes since the injunction decision."
Not only the petition against the acceptance of the injunction but also the first trial date for the exclusive contract lawsuit was held recently. ADOR insists that the exclusive contract, which was signed in April 2022, remains valid as the termination notice made by NewJeans was lacking in procedural and substantive grounds. In contrast, the side of NewJeans argues that the termination notice is legitimate because a trust relationship has collapsed, including the expulsion of Min Hee-jin, the former representative who successfully operated ADOR.
As NewJeans suspended their activities and continued their legal battle, reports surfaced about a rift among the parents of NewJeans members. It has been speculated that one of the parents of minors, HAEIN and Haerin, may have shown differing opinions regarding parental rights exercised for the termination lawsuit of the exclusive contract. In response, the parents of NewJeans stated, "The reports claiming that 'there is a division among the members' parents' are completely false. All five members have a firm stance that they cannot return to HYBE. Even in this difficult situation, the five members are often meeting to maintain their unchanging friendship, and our parents are also communicating with each other more regularly, strengthening our bond."
