The first season of the 'shortcom' drama 'Mental Warrior' has concluded amid acclaim.
The shortcom 'Mental Warrior,' released through the YouTube channel 'One Plus One Story,' was produced with the concept that it represents the hearts of modern individuals who cannot express what they want to say due to face, consideration, atmosphere, and community spirit, and that when they feel anger in daily life, their mental warrior emerges to substitute for the words and actions they want to express.
'Mental Warrior' consists of five-minute episodes that maintain the nature of short forms while ensuring a clear beginning, middle, and end, complemented by tense dialogues as if watching an action scene. It features renowned actors such as Park Jung-soo, Han Sang-jin, Park Eun-hye, Kang Sung-jin, Lee Jun-hyuk, and Hwang Dong-joo.
'Mental Warrior' highlighted realistic issues in our surroundings and provided a cathartic response. Beginning with a conflict between married couples portrayed by Han Sang-jin and Park Eun-hye, it depicted a power struggle between patient Han Sang-jin and urologist Lee Jun-hyuk, the gap between sister-in-law Park Eun-hye and sister-in-law Jo Hyang-gi, and the conflict between long-time lovers Kim Da-hyun and Song Hae-na, eliciting public empathy.
In a recent episode, it expanded from personal issues to highlight societal problems. Actor Kim Si-gyeong, who plays a high school student, and Shin Eun-bi from the girl group Makamaka depicted students with deficient literacy levels, creating conflict with teacher Hwang Dong-joo, who feels frustration and anger.
Additionally, Park Jung-soo and Kang Sung-jin, playing the role of a plastic surgery director, debated over outrageous treatment fees close to fraud. Meanwhile, Lee Han-wi appeared as Park Jung-soo's boyfriend, eliciting laughter, while Kim Si-gyeong and Shin Eun-bi showcased the beautiful natural scenery and culture of Andong, bringing season 1 to a close.
'Mental Warrior' went beyond conflicts that can arise in everyday relationships like family, lovers, and friends to illuminate societal issues, capturing both laughter and insight. It has been praised for eliciting humor in an unconventional manner using the theme of actions between fictional characters.
Director Lee Jeong-soo, who was in charge of directing the work, expressed gratitude by stating, "I sincerely thank all the actors who participated happily in 'Mental Warrior,' which started with a unique idea, and showcased high-quality performances. I ask for your anticipation for season 2, which will come soon after a period of reorganization."
