Animal rights group Care expressed discomfort regarding the MBC 'Real Stories Investigation' broadcast.
The 'Real Stories Investigation' broadcast on the 10th included a story about a Shiba Inu named Park Dae-song. The owner, who had been consistently posting criticisms and insults about the pet on social media, ultimately abandoned the dog in the cold winter backyard, even posting mockingly titled 'Before applying the soybean paste' and 'The abandonment ending.'
Care live-streamed the rescue process, claiming Park Dae-song had been abused. In contrast, the owner couple clarified that they had only temporarily left the dog with the grandmother due to concerns that the dog might bite their young daughter as it grew older.
Through Care's live broadcast, the family's personal information was disclosed, causing the husband to lose his job, and the family is now living in pain. Despite this, officials from the Daegu Suseong District Office and a veterinarian reported no suspicions of abuse against Park Dae-song, but Care did not return the dog to the owner.
Following a flood of criticism after the broadcast, Care stated through its official social media, "It cannot be considered anything other than animal abuse to send a child who lived indoors to a place where it could freeze to death instantly. Will showing a few happy photos on the broadcast make the wrong actions disappear?"
In particular, regarding 'Real Stories Investigation,' they raised their voices, saying, "The responsible producer tries to justify their understanding and position by editing weakened or contaminated evidence. This is an incident that undermines the public sentiment of life respect. This is a clear fact that does not require investigative reporting."
"The overwhelming majority of respondents answered that it is not right to return Park Dae-song, which the producer dismisses as a minority opinion detached from the public's sentiment. However, this opinion, which the responsible producer dismissed, reflects the common view of most citizens who understand the case better than anyone else since the beginning of the incident," they argued, revealing their discomfort.
