As singer Lee Soo-young's absence lengthens, interest is focusing on the background of her situation, with comments she made on past appearances in entertainment shows being reexamined.
Last year, Lee Soo-young appeared on Park Soo-hong's YouTube channel 'Yahong Restaurant' and opened up about her life.
In the video, Lee Soo-young stated that she unknowingly accumulated various kinds of debt using her personal information, and she not only lost all her possessions to fraud but also found herself burdened with a significant amount of debt.
Lee Soo-young said, "Unbeknownst to me, fraudsters used my personal information to take out loans and make investments, leading to various types of debt that caused me to lose all my assets." She confessed that one by one, the actions of the fraudsters became apparent, and she ended up with 3 billion won in debt.
Amid the difficult circumstances, she met her current husband. Lee said, "At that time, I was emotionally and physically drained and was not in a position to meet anyone. Then suddenly, my husband just dropped in from the sky," explaining that an acquaintance from her church introduced her to her current husband.
According to Lee Soo-young, it was a meeting between an ordinary office worker and a celebrity, but they seemed to connect well as if it were fate, and their relationship developed into romance. However, it wasn't easy for Lee, who was burdened with a significant amount of debt, to decide to get married.
Lee Soo-young candidly confessed her debts to her husband, saying, "In fact, my husband ran away for about five days. I had to let him know about the debts before we got married, so I showed him the contracts and explained the situation, deciding that I would break up if he didn't accept it." She added, "When my husband didn't contact me for five days, I didn't reach out either. Then afterward, he called me and said, 'I will take care of your situation.' This was an enormous decision for my husband. I have infinite trust in him, and since he never faced any difficulties, I hadn't had the opportunity to help him, but I naturally thought that when he encounters hardships, I should support him then."
Although Lee Soo-young went through a difficult period receiving mental health treatment after being defrauded, she overcame it by meeting her husband and is now said to have settled all her debts while finding stability after overcoming the tough times.
Meanwhile, Lee Soo-young debuted in 1999, releasing hit songs such as 'I Believe,' 'Wheel Lilly,' and 'Goodbye as if to Brush Past.' She won the grand award at the MBC Teen Song Festival in 2003 and 2004 and the grand award at the Golden Disc Awards in 2004. In 2010, Lee Soo-young rang the wedding bells and has one son. In 2022, she released her tenth regular album 'SORY.'
