BTOB member and actor Yook Sungjae exposed the reality of the entertainment industry.
On the 9th, a video titled "Wow, I never thought the day would come when I would kiss you~" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Naraesik.'
The lead role in SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Haunted Palace,' Yook Sungjae and Kim Jiyeon, who have been friends for 16 years, met through the JYP open audition. After that, Yook Sungjae debuted in the idol group BTOB under Cube, while Kim Jiyeon debuted as Bona of WJSN in Starship.
Park Na-rae noted, "I've known since we were kids, and both are beautiful and handsome, so I thought they would catch each other's eyes," to which Yook Sungjae and Kim Jiyeon replied, "Training as trainees creates a bond of camaraderie." Kim Jiyeon added, "We saw everything, both good and bad. But Sungjae has a bit of a heavenly style," and laughed.
Especially, Kim Jiyeon confessed, "If I had concerns in the past, I would talk about them, and I sought advice from him because he debuted with BTOB before me. Whenever that happened, Sungjae would say, 'Don't think about making money.'"
Yook Sungjae said, "Even now, that's how it is. My belief is to pursue the stars. I want to chase the stars, not money, and I want to die pursuing my dreams. I expressed my ideals mainly around that."
Kim Jiyeon explained, "When I said, 'I have trouble with the company,' Sungjae told me, 'It's all the same. Just think that you're working with the person who knows you best.'" To this, Yook Sungjae clarified, "I just dressed it up; what I really said was, 'There are many scoundrels in this industry, so work with the scoundrel who knows you the best.'" Kim Jiyeon added, "Thinking that way made sense."
Park Na-rae asked, "Have you ever experienced coming to each other when things were tough?" Kim Jiyeon retorted, "Haven't you ever called when things were tough?" looking at Yook Sungjae. He responded, "That's true, and even though I say this, I'm really committed. If something happens to Jiyeon, I am confident I would go right away." Kim Jiyeon also said, "I think that way too."
In response to the question, "What if I suddenly call and ask to borrow 100 million won?" Kim Jiyeon instantly replied, "I could lend it. But only if I received the call," and laughed.
Yook Sungjae remarked, "It's a bit of that feeling. It feels superficial but lasts long," and Kim Jiyeon responded, "Isn't it loyally meeting for 16 years?" She added, "Both of us worked hard to balance being singers and actors. Sungjae's positive influence was significant in that too. He often told me, 'I hope you don't lose your identity as a singer. I hope you release a solo album.' He also has his own dreams, so he says that to me," she expressed her gratitude.
