On the 10th, a press conference for the 700th episode of KBS1's 'Table for Korean People' and the new presenter was held at the KBS New Building International Conference Room in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
'Table for Korean People' goes beyond being a mere cooking program, recording the culture and history embedded in a meal, the stories of local communities, and serving as a 'repository of taste memories' that captures nostalgia and reminiscence. It has sought to find various foods that continue throughout the seasons and regions, conveying the wisdom of life and the warmth of family and neighbors.
The new guide for 'Table for Korean People', Choi Soo-jong, is expected to serve as a friendly image of a national husband, son, and brother, becoming a warm friend and a familiar neighbor who shares meals with viewers.
As the new presenter, Choi Soo-jong said, "When I asked Hanni a question, she just stared at me with wide eyes and didn't answer. I think she felt the same way. I felt a heavy sense of responsibility and mission, similar to my own feelings. I visited 8 places during the 4 shoots, and every dish I had was food I had never tried before. It wasn't that the taste was different—each dish was something I had never tasted before. So it was fascinating, really good, and made me happy."
'Table for Korean People' has introduced many meals from Korean households. Will Hanni's meal be featured as well? PD Lim Gi-soon noted, "Since we are targeting all Koreans, I believe Hanni could be one of them. If there is a good opportunity, I would like to introduce her to our viewers at any time."
Choi Soo-jong said, "If Hanni appears, it immediately becomes a different program. It would become a program that conveys her taste." He added, "When I met with the production team, we discussed that for 14 years, I traveled all over the country to discover new foods and share stories, yet still asked whether the Daesang remains. I visited 8 places so far, and there seems to be no end. There are many touching stories when hearing life stories, and reflecting on the stories of the parental generation, it seems we have also suggested how we should live going forward. Since there are still more stories to tell, I think Hanni might be able to join us again when she turns 90."
