Actor Park Han-byul returns to the screen after six years.
Park Han-byul has been cast in the film 'Karma' (director Han Jong-hoon, produced by DMP STUDIO, VIT Pictures) in the role of 'Yang PD.' Given that this is her first return project in a long time, there is great anticipation for Park Han-byul's new acting transformation.
'Karma' is a work that tells the story of how past misdeeds return as fatal karma that disrupts lives. It sharply highlights the issues of serious crime trials and sentencing, delivering a profound message. Together with Park Han-byul, talented actors such as Park Ho-san, Park Si-hoo, Jung In-ki, and Jang Hyuk-jin are expected to elevate the tension and immersion of the piece. Attention is focused on how their acting ensemble will unfold based solely on their combination.
In the film, Park Han-byul (in the role of Yang PD) is a documentary program producer who records the lives of crime victims, embodying a complex inner conflict between the pursuit of truth and sensational content for ratings. Park Han-byul is set to portray a character balancing cold ambition behind a calm and rational image, navigating the ethical boundaries of journalism.
The megaphone for 'Karma' is held by director Han Jong-hoon, who made a striking debut with the 2013 film 'Jit.' The film is expected to begin submissions to domestic and international film festivals in the second half of the year and is set to be released in theaters in 2026.
The Sanskrit term 'karma' refers to actions of good and evil committed by body, speech, and mind, which are said to be the causes that bring about results of good and evil in the future.
Park Han-byul has been active in various fields, including drama, film, and entertainment.
Meanwhile, Park Han-byul married former YG Holdings CEO Yoo In-seok in 2017 and has two sons. However, in 2019, Yoo was embroiled in controversy related to the Burning Sun Gate, and Park Han-byul has not participated in broadcasts for more than five years since the drama 'Loves When It Hurts' aired that year.
In the meantime, Park Han-byul submitted a petition during Yoo's legal processes while making efforts to preserve her family. She also operated a personal café and ran a personal YouTube channel. Although Park Han-byul constantly drew attention while running the café, her actions were understandably cautious due to personal circumstances, especially involving her husband's case. However, she made her return to broadcasting in 'Dad and Me' ahead of acting after a six-year hiatus.
