In the recently released Disney+ original series 'Hyper Knife,' Sul KyungGu took on the role of Choi DeokHee. He delicately expressed DeokHee's diverse emotions with small movements, while skillfully adjusting the intensity of peak emotions to enhance viewer immersion.
The moment DeokHee, who controls emotions in any situation, is uniquely disarmed only in front of SeOk (Park EunBin) is impressive to viewers, but it is noted that the reason for increasing sympathy for the character lies in Sul KyungGu's exceptional expressiveness.
Sul KyungGu's specialty was once again effective. Regardless of the character he portrays, Sul KyungGu brings emotions and narrative to life, creating coherence in the character itself. The complex character of Choi DeokHee, who is indistinguishable as a villain or a hero, makes viewers want to cheer for him, which is possible because of his passionate performance.
In particular, Sul KyungGu lost weight to complete Choi DeokHee. To realistically portray the pain and suffering of a top neurosurgeon who develops a malignant tumor and whose condition worsens day by day, he lost over 10 kg and even practiced fasting to mold the character.
His efforts culminated in the 8th episode when DeokHee, after a long time, meets SeOk again in the operating room, thus completing Choi DeokHee himself.
Thoroughly and perfectly immersed in his role and the filming set, Sul KyungGu sometimes leads and sometimes firmly supports the drama, contributing to the quality of 'Hyper Knife.'
Through 'Hyper Knife,' Sul KyungGu quietly demonstrated his presence once again. His continuous shooting for the next project and transformation are highly anticipated.
