Singer and actor Kim Ji-yeon revealed her long-standing relationship with Yook Sung-jae.
On the afternoon of the 9th, the YouTube channel 'Naraeshik' featured Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-yeon, who star in SBS's 'Haunted Palace' and have been friends for 16 years.
When Park Na-rae asked, "I heard you two have been friends since you were 15," Kim Ji-yeon replied, "No one has ever asked me, so I've never talked about it, but we went to our first singer audition together. We auditioned for JYP together, and after being trainees at Cube, we've been friends for 16 years now. That audition was one where we traveled across the country for two weeks doing showcases together."
She continued, "The only person I did a dance team with was Twice's Jeongyeon, and in the male dance team, there were BTS's J-Hope and now actor Na In-woo."
Yook Sung-jae said, "It's really amazing that we both auditioned for the JYP public recruitment but got eliminated and then entered Cube. After that, there were many friends of the same age, and even though we interacted with other trainees, for some reason, I kept in touch with Ji-yeon and built a strong relationship."
Although the two did not debut at JYP, Yook Sung-jae debuted in the idol group BTOB at Cube, and Kim Ji-yeon debuted as a member of Cosmic Girls at Starship.
Park Na-rae asked, "Was there a choice in selecting this drama because 'the counterpart is Ji-yeon, or because the counterpart is Sung-jae'?" Kim Ji-yeon replied with a laugh, "I never thought we would do a piece together, but I said, 'I didn't expect the day would come when I would kiss you.'" Park Na-rae further made the audience laugh by saying, "It's difficult to compare, but it's like the relationship between me and Yang Se-hyung."
Yook Sung-jae stated, "If one of us felt awkward, I felt it wouldn't work. We approached it professionally." Kim Ji-yeon also added, "I was worried at first. I wondered if I could act as the counterpart, and I was concerned it might feel awkward in front of close friends. I questioned whether I could focus, but it felt so comfortable. After the first shoot, I thought, 'This is really nice.' It was good that there was no process of getting close."
