(Interview ② continued) Shin Min-a expressed hope for a transformation in her image.

On the 9th, an interview with Shin Min-a, the actress from Netflix's "Karma," was conducted at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul.

"Karma" is a crime thriller depicting the intertwined stories of six individuals caught in a fate they wish to escape. Based on the webtoon of the same name, "Karma" was scripted directly by director Lee Il-hyung, bringing the drama to life.

In the drama, Shin Min-a plays the role of 'Juyeon,' a surgeon living with lifelong trauma. Juyeon is an ordinary doctor at a university hospital who leads a lukewarm life rather than a passionate one. One day, he faces an unidentified burn patient, and upon hearing the patient's name, he confronts the wounds caused by a past event, maximizing feelings of anxiety and revenge.

That day, Shin Min-a said, "Before doing this work, I really wanted to play a villain. In fact, as soon as I received the script for 'Karma,' I thought, 'Am I a bad person too!' and looked forward to it."

He noted, "Someday, like the characters in 'Karma,' I hope to have the opportunity to play a villainous character as an actor. I want to play a character like 'Witness Male,' who appeared the most in 'Karma.' I also find the character played by Gong Seung-yeon attractive. I wanted to try it once. However, they haven't given me a villain role until now," confessing his desire to play a villain.

He continued, "Here in 'Karma,' I have the thought that I play a good character, but at the same time, I also think that the directors might have a desired image and acting for me. But if given the chance, I would like to try a villain role too," adding, "Villains also have narratives, and there are characters that commit evil deeds without any narrative. More than that, I want to play a somewhat three-dimensional character. I want to try out expressions that I haven't shown before. Since I've never played a truly bad person, I think it would be fun to do so."

He remarked, "I think every actor feels that way. 'Am I only showing the same side of myself?' or 'Is the image people have of me just one?' I think I’ll ponder these things. I've been working since I was very young, so those processes are surely necessary. However, I am grateful for being offered scripts for different stories like 'Karma,' and I feel that I must work hard. Of course, if there is a good opportunity, I will consider preparing hard for a different image. That is something I constantly think about."
