Lu Ching Lai and his son reported that there remains a significant difference in their views.
On the broadcast of TV CHOSUN's 'Dad and Me' on the 8th, Chef Lu Ching Lai and his son Chef Yeomin went to volunteer at a local children's center to prepare lunchboxes together. It was the first time in 12 years that they shared a meal together and engaged in conversation, but they could not narrow their differences and ended up in disagreement. The day's broadcast featured MC Jeon Hyun-moo, Lee Seung-yeon, Subin, Lee Geon-joo, Park Han-byul, and Jang Kwang.
Yeomin, under his father's instructions, worked hard to prepare 50 lunchboxes alone from early morning. The menu included child-friendly egg fried rice, mild chili shrimp, and Yeomin's 'signature dish' Chinese chicken burger. However, Lu Ching Lai criticized the menu, saying, "Next time, it would be better not to do something like this. We should go for something simple and easy." To make matters worse, the children who received the food unexpectedly offered harsh criticism about the chicken burger, contrary to Yeomin's expectations. Yeomin expressed his disappointment, stating, "This was my first time making lunchboxes for volunteering, and everything today was my first. I think I was overly eager."
After finishing their volunteer work, the two shared a meal and talked. Lu Ching Lai brought up a program he appeared on with Chef Park Eun-young 10 years ago, pointing out Yeomin's rebellious attitude. This program was a cooking competition show featuring star chefs and their apprentices, and Lu Ching Lai was originally supposed to appear with Yeomin. However, due to Yeomin's rebellion, he ended up appearing with Park Eun-young, stating, "If it weren't for that, Yeomin could have been the star chef."
Yeomin countered his father's remarks, stating, "Even if I'm rebellious, I work harder." He then expressed his disappointment with his father's attitude of notifying him without asking for his consent. Yeomin tearfully shared, "(My father) would send me every time he opened a new location when he had no one else to send. I've always felt like I'm just a worker for him." Lu Ching Lai, feeling upset, said, "I gave you the opportunity to go and showcase your skills, and now hearing you say this feels like a betrayal." Although they had a one-on-one meeting after 12 years, the conflict between Lu Ching Lai and Chef Yeomin deepened, leaving viewers wondering when they would understand each other.
