Rising star Son Suk-ku is set to make a brief but impactful appearance in the movie 'Virus' (directed by Kang Yi-gwan, produced by Bypoem Studio, and The Lamp Co.).
Actor Son Suk-ku, who has captured the audience with his distinctive charm in every piece, is increasing curiosity by announcing a bold acting transformation in the film
Since making his presence known to viewers through the 2019 drama 'Melo is My Nature,' Son Suk-ku has established himself as a leading actor in Korea through the 2022 drama 'My Liberation Notes,' which sparked a 'Mr. Gu' fever, and the blockbuster film 'The Outlaws 2,' where he transformed into an unprecedented villain. He is now set to make a special appearance in the movie 'Virus' to showcase a different side of himself, following his unceasing activities in works like 'D.P,' 'Casino,' and 'Murderer o Dilemma,' demonstrating his solid acting skills and unique personality.
In 'Virus,' Son Suk-ku appears as a crucial figure who spreads the 'Toxso virus,' enhancing the immersion of the film from the beginning. The character he plays, 'Su-pil,' has a doctoral degree, a respectable job, and a polished appearance, but is a lifelong single who is distant from love. More comfortable connecting with laboratory mice than with people, 'Su-pil' feels an unusually strong attraction to 'Taek-seon' (played by Bae Doona), whom he meets for the first time during a blind date, and ultimately takes the bold step of showing up at her house with a bouquet to propose.
Son Suk-ku's realistic acting, which expresses feelings through awkward confessions and unexpected actions, radiates a quirky charm reminiscent of characters in the ultra-realistic dating program 'I'm Solo,' adding to the film's enjoyment. Regarding Son Suk-ku's brief but impactful performance in 'Virus,' director Kang Yi-gwan noted, 'He is an intelligent, curious, and challenging actor. Expect to see a new side of Son Suk-ku.'
The movie 'Virus,' where you can witness the nerdiness of Son Suk-ku that makes viewers fall deeper, will be available in theaters nationwide on May 7 (Wednesday).
