A video containing the meaningful reflections of actor Hwang Jae-yeol, known for his role as 'Ms. Aesoon,' was released through the official SNS of his agency, Ghost Studio.
In the Netflix original series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' Hwang Jae-yeol played the role of Aesoon's (IU's character) homeroom teacher during her childhood, showcasing a unique presence.
Firstly, Hwang Jae-yeol embodied a character set in the 1960s with stable acting skills, fully immersing himself in the work. In particular, he vividly brought to life the scene where the homeroom teacher scolded the class president to let the rich child win the vote, even after young Aesoon won.
In the released video, Hwang Jae-yeol began by saying, "I feel personally honored to be part of such a good work. The director and writer are the ones who created the life masterpiece I love, so I have fond memories of performing in a small but precious role. It was truly an honor, and I am even more grateful for the support I've received."
He continued, "I hope to be a person who, while reflecting on the past, gives a better influence to the next generation," leaving a witty remark to the character 'Aesoon' in the work, saying, "Aesoon, I'm sorry for now; it wasn't my intention. I want to apologize on behalf of many adults."
Furthermore, he expressed, "I thought a lot about my mother's childhood, when she was young and beautiful. I hope all the adults who lived in that era, and those who are living now, have a lot of joyful experiences. You have endured so much, and I respect you immensely."
Lastly, he expressed, "I hope you receive a lot of good energy through this work and fill your hearts with warm emotions. I am also busy filming other works, and I would appreciate it if you could recognize me warmly if we meet in another good project. To everyone who has watched, 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.'"
In this way, Hwang Jae-yeol left a strong impression even in a brief moment, contributing to the persuasive portrayal of young Aesoon's heartbreaking reality. Expectations are growing for his future endeavors, following a solid acting career demonstrated in numerous projects such as 'Ilta Scandal,' 'The Value of a Person,' 'Pig Hunting,' and 'Luca: The Beginning.'
