"Second Shot at Love" will be the country's first drama promoting sobriety, appealing to viewers.
As the premiere of tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama "Second Shot at Love" (written by Myung Soo-hyun, Jeon Ji-hyun/directed by Jang Yu-jung/planned by Studio Dragon/produced by HOW Pictures) approaches on May 12 (Monday) at 8:50 p.m., it is generating interest by revealing a teaser video encouraging sobriety and two types of NO alcohol posters, showcasing Han Geum-joo's (played by Choi Soo-young) escape from drinking life.
"Second Shot at Love" is a romantic comedy drama about a woman who considers herself a reasonable drinker and challenges sobriety upon reuniting with her first love, who despises alcohol. The cast includes attractive actors like Choi Soo-young (playing Han Geum-joo), Gong Myoung (playing Seo Ui-jun), Kim Sung-ryung (playing Kim Kwang-ok), Kim Sang-ho (playing Han Jeong-soo), and Jo Yoon-hee (playing Han Hyun-joo), who are all poised to create refreshing synergy.
The first released teaser video for sobriety begins with the narration, "Our country is generous with alcohol," capturing Han Geum-joo's daily life, where remaining sober seems impossible. In various drinking settings, we can glimpse her day-to-day life, filled with fun as the unstoppable "true drinker" Han Geum-joo clinks glasses.
While her mood reaches a peak, danger signals are also flashing. As she becomes unable to speak properly, worried cries of "Geum-joo!" and "Han Geum-joo!" erupt around her. Unable to watch any longer, Seo Ui-jun (played by Gong Myoung) firmly states, "You really need to quit drinking," but even as he speaks, Han Geum-joo's hiccups spill out, foreshadowing the difficult road ahead for her sobriety challenge.
The two types of NO alcohol posters released alongside also attract attention. The first poster features a comical situation where Han Geum-joo, laughing hazily while stuck in a giant beer mug, is being pulled up by Seo Ui-jun. His struggling expression suggests that the "sobriety rescue mission" will not be an easy task.
In another poster, Seo Ui-jun's professional look as Han Geum-joo's "alcohol detox specialist" captures the beginning of the genuine sobriety project. Dressed in a white coat, he poses the question, "Have you ever thought you should quit drinking?" creating an atmosphere reminiscent of sobriety clinics. The ongoing tussle between Han Geum-joo, who wants to drink, and Seo Ui-jun, who tries to stop her, hints at their tense tug-of-war towards sobriety.
In this way, "Second Shot at Love" boosts expectations for being the first drama in South Korea promoting sobriety with its delightful posters and teaser video encapsulating Han Geum-joo's sobriety challenge. With a story that anyone can relate to intensely, anticipation is building for the first encounter with "Second Shot at Love," which promises both fun and empathy.
The new Monday-Tuesday drama "Second Shot at Love," depicting Choi Soo-young's efforts to maintain sobriety with the help of Gong Myoung, will premiere on May 12 (Monday) at 8:50 p.m.
