Actor Park Hae-jun expressed gratitude for the popularity of his previous work, "When Life Gives You Tangerines."
On the afternoon of the 7th, a media distribution preview and press conference for the film "Yadang" (directed by Hwang Byeong-kook) were held at Megabox Coex in Gangnam, Seoul. The press conference was attended by director Hwang Byeong-kook and actors Kang Ha-neul, Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-jun, Ryu Kyung-soo, and Chae Won-bin.
"Yadang" is a crime action film featuring a broker who designs Korea's drug market, a prosecutor aiming for a higher position, and a detective who risks everything to eradicate drug crime, all entwined with different objectives.
Previously, Park Hae-jun received considerable love for portraying the father of Geum-myung (played by IU) in the Netflix series "When Life Gives You Tangerines," which caused him to induce "gwan-sik disease." He noted, "People around me have liked it so much. I'm very happy, but honestly, I haven't been going out much, so I haven't met many people in reality. I've just been at home. I'm meeting people for promotions, and they are saying they enjoyed it a lot, so I'm thankful. I wonder if I can do another work like this."
He continued, "I also wonder if I can really encounter such a movie as 'Yadang.' I expect to find something this fun and exhilarating. While playing the role of a detective, I consulted with the director many times and took on the task, and I'm glad a fun piece has come out."
Especially following "When Life Gives You Tangerines," I am appearing as a father of a daughter in "Yadang" as well. When asked about his ambition for the title of 'National Father,' he humorously replied, "Honestly, since they liked 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' so much, I even thought about wearing a padding jacket to stand here for this promotion. Carrying a bag in a padding jacket, I briefly thought about doing it for the sake of 'Yadang's' success, but I'm glad I came dressed so nicely."
He joked, "By chance, I became a detective as the head of a family in this work. This piece has its own different meaning. After watching it, I think becoming a national father, surpassing senior Choi Bool-am, wouldn't be bad. It's not a bad role either." He added, "Thank you for your interest, and I hope you love 'Yadang.' I'm curious about how you viewed it. I want to meet the audience as soon as it premieres."
Meanwhile, "Yadang" is set to be released in theaters on the 16th.
