Actor Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra are examining welfare blind spots.
The 500th special episode of the KBS 1TV human documentary 'Together,' airing at 6 p.m. on the 5th, will feature Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra as messengers of hope, exploring the remarkable power that warmth from the social community can call forth.
The two, who have consistently engaged in donations and volunteer work for marginalized neighbors and children, have not spared support for children in need domestically and internationally, based on their interest in adoption and child welfare. They have not only practiced adoption to improve awareness of it but have also been helping adopted children and single-mother households through various organizations.
Consistently practicing donations and volunteer work, the couple, known as the representative "donation angel couple" of the entertainment industry, will visit a case family in honor of the 500th episode of 'Together.' The protagonists they meet are 'Turtle Boy' Min-seok (12) and his grandmother (75), who live with difficulty in a grandparent-grandchild household. Min-seok, who lives in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, takes longer than others for everyday actions like eating, washing, and changing clothes. It takes him an hour to eat and more than an hour to wash, but Min-seok does not give up and is progressing toward the world at his own pace. However, his elderly grandmother is experiencing declining health, making it increasingly difficult for her to care for her grandson. Despite their tight living conditions, the grandmother cherishes the hope of protecting Min-seok until the end.
After hearing their story, Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra personally visit Min-seok's family to give them a warm day. The couple spends meaningful time together, waiting at a crossing for the train with Min-seok, who loves trains, and teaches him exercises he can do himself. They listen to the grandmother's stories and convey warm comfort. Moreover, they cook and serve warm meals and even provide personalized gifts to encourage Min-seok, who dreams of becoming a car maker.
'Together' production team said, "We are grateful that the stories of ordinary yet special people we have met while preparing for the broadcast can resonate deeply with viewers." They also noted, "I have deeply etched in my heart that small acts of care and touch can change someone's life, and we will strive to create broadcasts that can convey the meaning of warm sharing and solidarity in the future."
Meanwhile, the 500th special episode of KBS 1TV 'Together,' airing at 6 p.m. on the 5th, will also feature updates on families that have changed through 'Together.' It will bring viewers to meet the current situations of families who have overcome hardships with support through the program over the past 10 years, reflecting once again on how significant social interest can be in shaping a family's future.
