Wendy of the girl group Red Velvet shared her feelings about leaving the company as her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment has ended.
On the morning of 4th, Wendy expressed her wishes to greet fans, known as "Luvies," who might have been surprised by the news released today through the private messaging platform Bubble. I have concluded my exclusive contract with SM Entertainment, which has been with me for a long time and helped shape who I am, and I am preparing to challenge myself in a new environment," she said.
She continued, "I sincerely thank the SM family for allowing me to come out into the world as Red Velvet and meet the Luvies. I believe that I could be who I am today because of the many supports and consideration I received during that time. Moreover, every moment spent with the Luvies, who have always watched over me with warm support and love, has been precious, and that strength has allowed me to take steps forward no matter what happens."
Wendy noted, "This decision was made after much contemplation, and I mustered the courage because I wanted to explore new challenges in a wider world. I would also like to sincerely thank my beloved members for supporting my decision. Since I have members who always stand by me and give me strength, I believe I can continue to move forward sturdily toward the future."
She added, "Moreover, above all, Red Velvet will always be the most precious existence for me. I will continue to participate as Wendy of Red Velvet, and I will do my best to meet the Luvies in a new way as another Wendy. I am carefully considering a good company that can actively cooperate and support my activities as Red Velvet, so I will do my best to continue creating precious memories with all of you as Red Velvet."
Meanwhile, on the same day, SM Entertainment released an official statement saying, "The exclusive contracts with Wendy and Yeri have ended. Our time with Wendy and Yeri, who debuted as part of Red Velvet and have been active in many areas as solo artists, has been a great happiness for us.
