'88z' Jung Haein, Yim Siwan, and Kim Soo-hyun are surrounded by significant public interest regarding the 'SNS unfollowing.'
Jung Haein, Yim Siwan, and Kim Soo-hyun, known as close friends in the entertainment industry born in 1988, have built their friendship through private gatherings and playing golf together. The three displayed their friendship by appearing together on the MBC weekend variety show 'Good Day,' directed by Kim Tae-ho, which first aired in February this year, but faced an unexpected crisis.
Recently, Kim Soo-hyun found himself in a major social controversy regarding his relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, who was a minor, and the fallout has also affected his close friends, Yim Siwan and Jung Haein.
Previously, Yim Siwan's personal account had about 3.74 million followers and followed 87 people, including acquaintances. However, when fans demanded, 'Please unfollow Kim Soo-hyun,' Yim Siwan canceled all his follows, leaving only the official account of his agency, Plum A & C.
The 'unfollow' demand has now shifted to Jung Haein. He is a global star with about 14.74 million followers and, as of the morning of the 3rd, was following 230 close colleagues from the entertainment industry, including his close friend Kim Soo-hyun.
In response, some netizens, presumed to be fans of Jung Haein, commented, 'It’s your personal choice, and we know we shouldn't interfere, but Yim Siwan has already unfollowed everyone except for his agency. We hope you can do the same. We value you, and we don’t want your name to be dragged along with him anymore.'
In relation to this, netizens expressed various reactions, including, 'Fans are trying to manage the star's friend list,' 'He'll handle it himself, this is excessive,' 'It's better to cleanly resolve it like Yim Siwan, rather than being mentioned together,' and 'Considering the image, unfollowing is also a possibility.'
While a very small number of fans are visiting Jung Haein's personal account to demand unfollowing, interest is growing about whether Jung Haein will also clean up his SNS after '88z' Yim Siwan unfollowed Kim Soo-hyun.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun held an emergency press conference at a hotel in Sangam-dong, Mapo District, Seoul, on the 31st of last month. It was the first time he spoke up 21 days after allegations emerged that he had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron since she was a minor.
Kim Soo-hyun stated, "It is not true that I dated her when she was a minor," and asserted, "The late one and I dated for about a year, four years before 'Queen of Tears' aired, which was five years ago," maintaining his previous position.
Furthermore, Kim Soo-hyun's side has filed a damages lawsuit against Kim Sae-ron's family and the YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute,' and the amount of the lawsuit has been confirmed to be 12 billion won. Kim Soo-hyun's side stated to OSEN, "The lawsuit amount is correct at 12 billion won, not 11 billion won. The total includes property damage and compensation, amounting to 12 billion won. There has been no change."
The damages claim lawsuit filed by Kim Soo-hyun has been assigned to Director General Jeong Ha-jeong of the 14th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court.
