MBC proved its channel competitiveness through news during the impeachment political situation and killer content such as 'I Live Alone.'
On the 3rd, MBC announced that it ranked first among all channels in the viewership survey for the first quarter of 2025. It achieved overwhelming results in the key viewer demographic of ages 20 to 49 and household viewership based on Nielsen's metropolitan area standards.
It is noteworthy that during prime time (7 p.m. to midnight on weekdays, 5 p.m. to midnight on weekends), the viewer rating for ages 20 to 49 was 1.6% and household viewership was 4.6%, both ranking first. In particular, the viewer rating for ages 20 to 49 increased compared to the same period last year, achieving the only result exceeding 1.5% among all channels. This is evaluated as a successful reflection of planning aligned with the content consumption patterns of younger generations and a rapid adaptation to trends. It holds significant meaning in that it secured consistent preference beyond a one-time hit.
In the institutional sector of news, 'News Desk' recorded a viewer rating of 2.3% and household viewership of 8.2%, ranking first among main news programs across all broadcasting companies. This notably surpassed SBS's '8 News' (viewer rating of 1.6%) and KBS1's 'News 9' (viewer rating of 1.0%), establishing itself as a trusted main news source for both the young and general audience.
MBC produced the highest number of entries among all channels with a total of six programs in the top 20 for viewer ratings among ages 20 to 49. Notably, the entertainment program 'I Live Alone' ranked first with a viewer rating of 4.0%. 'How Do You Play?' (viewer rating of 2.6%) also entered the top 10, proving its brand power.
In the drama institutional sector, 'The Call You Are Waiting For' (viewer rating of 2.8%) and 'Undercover High School' (viewer rating of 2.4%) both ranked high, demonstrating their popularity and quality as content.
In relation to this, MBC stated, "We plan to strengthen our broadcasting competitiveness with various high-quality content that meets the expectations of viewers in the future."
