Broadcaster Kim Dae-ho, a former announcer, revealed the reason for his decision to participate in 'The Great Guide 2' after leaving MBC.
The new entertainment program 'The Great Guide 2', which will first air on the 8th, features foreign residents in Korea in their Nth year as guides, revealing local spots known only to locals to travelers visiting their home country. The first travel mates Park Myung-soo, Kim Dae-ho, and Choi Daniel traveled to Rwanda, a hidden gem in Africa. The meeting of the three strong characters and the unique charm of Rwanda are generating anticipation.
In particular, Kim Dae-ho drew attention by choosing 'The Great Guide 2' as his first entertainment program after declaring himself a freelancer. Previously, he had traveled to Italy in 'The Great Guide 1.' What was the reason for his decision to participate in 'The Great Guide 2' after much deliberation? On the 3rd, the production team revealed that story.
Kim Dae-ho said, "I haven't had many opportunities to travel because I've been too busy. After resigning, I felt the need for a chance to organize my thoughts, and I thought it could be that opportunity. So I chose 'The Great Guide' again. After deciding to participate, when I heard that the first country would be in Africa, I was even more pleased."
For someone like Kim Dae-ho, who usually prefers 'nature' and 'remote travel', Africa, particularly Rwanda, would have been an attractive travel destination. Regarding this, Kim Dae-ho reminisced, "It was more impressive because it felt distinctly different from the Africa I had in mind. When you think of Africa, it typically gives off a dry and desolate impression, but Rwanda felt full of life and was remarkable. I experienced a lot of local culture and traveled with locals, which was truly enjoyable."
He added, "In Tanzania and Kenya, there are animals that we commonly know from Africa. However, I encountered animals that had a raw, wild feeling, which was very fresh. You can find out which animals I saw when you watch the broadcast."
Kim Dae-ho also revealed that he gained new insights from this trip to Rwanda. He said, "Many people have beings who make them humble. I find myself humbled when facing nature. Unconsciously, I tend to reflect more on myself, and my excited feelings calm down. When I took this trip, it was right after I had just started freelancing, so there was a bit of excitement. I had stepped away from an organization to stand alone. Now I need to take root somewhere again and work, but I felt unstable in several aspects. This trip allowed me to appreciate nature and helped me organize my thoughts calmly."
He added, "I am working on a vivarium, and I took many photos that could serve as inspiration for it. However, at one point, I realized, 'I have been arrogant.' A vivarium is about creating my world. I always thought I was naturally creating it, but I realized that following nature itself is very difficult and nearly impossible. This time, I created a vivarium anew, and I gained many ideas from this trip."
Kim Dae-ho chose 'The Great Guide 2' at a time when he was facing a significant change in his life. This choice has greatly influenced him at the new starting line. Viewers will be able to see a new and more honest side of Kim Dae-ho in the Rwanda episode of MBC Every One's 'The Great Guide 2', which will premiere on Tuesday, the 8th, at 8:30 p.m.
