MC Kim Seong-joo of 'Living Report' is completely captivated by the charm of Kyrgyzstan, exclaiming, "I have to go," while revealing ambitions for local expansion.
In the episode 2 of the entertainment show 'Living Report,' airing tonight at 10:20 p.m. on MBN and MBC Dramanet, broadcaster Yoon Jeong-soo will appear as a 'client to experience life' and will request a 'custom guide' from Lee Ji-hye and Jasson.
On that day, he reveals his 'dream of living abroad' by saying, "I want to go to a country that is close to Korea, with open views and low prices." In response, Jasson and Lee Ji-hye each recommend Kyrgyzstan and Laos. In particular, they shock everyone by releasing information about 'super low-cost' overseas living where one can eat, play, and enjoy for '10,000 won per person' a day.
First, Jasson calls upon the living guide Baek Gyeong-han, who is currently residing in Kyrgyzstan, the fourth cheapest country in the world. Baek Gyeong-han challenges himself to a 'shopping with 10,000 won' at a traditional market located in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. At this market, carrots are sold for 670 won per kilogram, potatoes for 330 won per kilogram, and locally sourced apples for 1,200 won per kilogram, shocking the studio.
Additionally, the price of beef is incredibly low, leading Yoon Jeong-soo to say, "(Compared to prices in Korea) it seems about ten times cheaper," and he boldly requests his 'peer friend' Kim Seong-joo to "lend me 1 million won." He then operates a miraculous calculation, stating, "If Seong-joo gives me 1 million won, I walk away with 10 million won." A flustered Kim Seong-joo calmly responds, "Then I should lend you 100,000 won," causing the scene to burst into laughter.
Following the low prices, the 'living guide' also highlights the beautiful scenery of Kyrgyzstan. He shares a scene of enjoying horseback riding on the snowy fields of Son-Kul National Park and showcases the stunning night view of the Milky Way over Issyk-Kul Lake, the second-largest alpine lake in the world. Seeing the breathtaking starry sky, reminiscent of CGI, Kim Seong-joo expresses, "I definitely have to go there. It's amazing," repeatedly marveling.
Moreover, Korean products are also easily found in the markets of Kyrgyzstan, adding to the excitement. A local merchant explains, "Korean ginseng, medicine, collagen, vitamins, and cosmetics are very popular." Even children encountered on the street are aware of 'Squid Game,' showcasing the popularity of the Korean Wave. In this context, the 'living guide' points out, "There is also a high demand for studying the Korean language," leading Kim Seong-joo to express his desire for local expansion, saying, "As a former announcer, it seems I must go." Lee Ji-hye also adds humorously, "I can do Korean and K-pop," making everyone burst into laughter.
Subsequently, Lee Ji-hye introduces Laos, where the cost of living is just as low as in Kyrgyzstan. In fact, the family of Jang Man-jun, Na-ri, and Jang Se-hyun, who are featured as 'living guides,' enjoys breakfast, shopping at a traditional market, a tour of Patuxai, and a night market tour for just 30,000 won, emphasizing that "money is still left over." Additionally, Jang Man-jun reveals, "The monthly living expenses for the three family members, including education fees, electricity bills, and mobile phone charges, are 1.5 million won, approximately 500,000 won per person," astonishing Yoon Jeong-soo.
With the intense interest, Lee Ji-hye shows the view of Vientiane from the Patuxai Independence Monument in Laos, hitting the sweet spot of Yoon Jeong-soo's desire for an open view. While gazing at the beautiful scenery, Yoon Jeong-soo comments, "I want to distance myself from conflicts and spend my old age safely." Lee Ji-hye adds, "Having experienced difficulties and scams, I hope you can heal while enjoying a stunning view," promoting Laos subtly.
The place that captured Yoon Jeong-soo's heart between the 'cost of living paradise' of Kyrgyzstan and Laos will be revealed in episode 2 of 'Living Report,' airing tonight at 10:20 p.m. on MBN and MBC Dramanet.
