The actor Seo Hyun from the movie 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters' expressed her thoughts on taking on the role of an occult performer.
On Dec. 2, a press conference for the movie 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters' (written/directed by Lim Dae-hee, provided/distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Big Punch Pictures and Nova Film, abbreviated as Holy Night) was held at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University in the Jayang-dong area of Gwangjin District, Seoul. The main cast, including Ma Dong-seok, Jeong Ji-so, Kyung Su-jin, Seo Hyun, Ida-wit, and director Lim Dae-hee, attended and discussed the film under the moderation of broadcaster Park Kyung-rim.
'Holy Night' is an occult action movie where the 'Holy Night' team, consisting of the dark fixer Bau (Ma Dong-seok), Sharon (Seo Hyun), and Kim-gun (Ida-wit), punishes the forces of evil in a city thrown into chaos by a cult that worships evil.
In particular, Seo Hyun reportedly read the entire script in just over an hour and accepted the role. She said, "I couldn't take my eyes off it once I started reading. There was no room for hesitation. The script was so interesting, and the opportunity to act alongside senior Ma Dong-seok made it something I couldn't miss. I don't have that kind of 'back and forth' where I wait a day. I have to grab it tightly. Sharon is mine."
In response, Ma Dong-seok said, "I was very grateful. We always wait anxiously after giving the script, and there are times when we wait a long time when the contact is delayed even after three months, so I was very grateful for the prompt response. In fact, Sharon is not an easy character. It’s a challenge for her, and we trusted Seo Hyun because we saw her in her other works. This time, she did 200% well, so we had faith in her."
Seo Hyun's character, Sharon, is a special exorcist capable of sensing the presence of evil and performing exorcisms. It has been said that she became prey for a cult that worships evil due to her strong spiritual energy, but was saved by Bau.
As an exorcist, Seo Hyun noted that more than 70% of her lines were not in Korean, saying, "This is a character I've never seen before, and it's so attractive, but I had to memorize spells that were based on an ancient language. I initially thought about looking into other movies, but I felt I had to create my own Sharon. To make the ancient language spells sound natural, I listened to them with earbuds all day, even before sleeping and while brushing my teeth, and tried to express them as if they were my own words."
'Holy Night' is set to be released on the 30th.
